Miami Marlins vs San Diego Padres: NRFI (-120)
For my first pick on Tuesday’s slate, I’m taking the NRFI in this crucial NL clash between the Marlins and Padres. This Padres team needs to get something going if they want any chance of running down the Cubs, Reds or Marlins for the final National League wild-card spot. Thankfully for San Diego, the Padres will have Blake Snell on the hill, who has surrendered just 10 runs over his last 9 outings since July 3. The Marlins offense shouldn’t test the left-hander, and the same should hold true for the Padres against Jesus Luzardo. The Miami left-hander has struggled in August, but the Padres lineup doesn’t produce the same challenges against southpaws that the Astros and Rangers did. This should be a quick opening frame, so let’s go with the NRFI.

Toronto Blue Jays vs Baltimore Orioles: NRFI (-115)
For my second pick on Tuesday’s card, I’m going with the NRFI in this tie between the Blue Jays and Orioles. These teams both boast top-10 offenses that have been clicking on all cylinders post-All Star Break, but I see value on both of these pitchers to see success in the opening frame. Toronto’s pitching has been inconsistent this season, but Yusei Kikuchi has been red-hot since the break, posting 6 consecutive outings where he’s allowed 1 or 0 runs. If the left-hander is able to set down the Orioles potent offense early on, Grayson Rodriguez should have no trouble against a Blue Jays lineup that doesn’t have much experience against a pitcher who keeps improving with each start. Given the edge both of these starts should have early, I have no problem backing the NRFI.
