Tuesday’s MLB slate features every team in action and presents plenty to watch out for as we edge closer to the trade deadline. Several front offices are evaluating how their team will look in a week as well as the next 1-3 years. Each game until the deadline will bring more and more clarity to the playoff picture this season, as well as near mid-term plans for several franchises moving forward. If you are looking to enjoy plenty of baseball entertainment on Tuesday with a little bit of action, check out these YRFI/NRFI picks that will hopefully start your night on a high note. Our expert Caleb Wilfinger went 2-0 yesterday to extend his winning run to 20-5, let’s see if I can keep the momentum going! New York Mets vs New York Yankees: NRFI (-110)
This matchup looks good for a low game total. That being the case, a clean first inning has plenty of appeal at -110 odds. This is not an indictment on the top of the lineup for both the Mets and the Yankees, but instead is a reflection on a strong starting pitching matchup. Justin Verlander will start for the Mets and Domingo German will start for the Yankees.
Verlander enters this start in great form. Over his last 5 starts, he has allowed 6 earned runs in 31 innings pitched and has not been pulled in the middle of an inning once all season. His counterpart German will have a chip on his shoulder to bounce back from a tough start which followed 3 strong starts, including a perfect game. Both of these starting pitchers have a good chance to deal before turning it over to the bullpens.

St. Louis Cardinals vs Arizona Diamondbacks: YRFI (-115)
Almost the exact opposite is the case in this Cardinals-Diamondbacks matchup as it pertains to the starting pitchers. Steven Matz will get the start for St. Louis and Merrill Kelly will get the start for Arizona. It has been an ugly season for Matz as he enters this game with a 1-7 record and 4.67 ERA in 81 innings across 21 outings. He struggled so much in the rotation, specifically early in games, that he was sent to the bullpen earlier this season. Matz presents a great opportunity for the D-backs to get on the board in the first.
Arizona’s starter is a bit of a question mark as Merrill Kelly makes his return after a month-long stint on the IL. In his last start on June 24th, he allowed 5 runs in 5 innings. Kelly has had a good season overall, but any return from injury after a period of time off can always be touchy and he may need a couple of innings to get back into his groove. Look for early offensive production in this game from either side.
