With plenty of MLB games taking place each day, one of the quickest bets you can make is if a run will be scored in the first inning. There is value to be had and this market has become very popular over time. If you don’t like sweating out your bets for 3 hours, this one will take only about 15 minutes. I’m on a 22-7 run with my YRFI/NRFI plays, so let’s keep this momentum going! But before we dive in, don’t forget to check out our MLB picks for every game today.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres: YRFI (-125)
For my first pick on Sunday’s slate, I’m taking the YRFI in this NL West clash between the Padres and Dodgers. This rivalry is traditionally competitive and that’s been the case once again this weekend. Each team has used massive 8th innings to pick up a win, but the rubber match should see plenty of runs scored from the opening frame onward. Lance Lynn got off to a solid start with the Dodgers earlier this week, but that outing came against the A’s at home. It’s safe to say the Padres offense is a much different beast for Lynn (6.32 ERA, bottom 10 percentile barrel rate). For the hosts, Rich Hill’s are ghastly across the board (5.60 xERA, bottom 10 percentile xBA and xSLG) and he’ll be taking on a Dodgers lineup that is stacked at the top. It’s hard not to love the YRFI at this price.

New York Mets vs Baltimore Orioles: NRFI (-110)
For my second pick on Sunday’s card, I’m going with the NRFI in this tie between the Mets and Orioles. These teams are going in completely opposite directions, but I see value on the struggling Mets to at least start off by holding the O’s scoreless in the opening frame. New York doesn’t have much going for it at the moment, but Jose Quintana has pitched a pair of scoreless outings over his last 2 starts, and has been quite solid in his 3 starts in Flushing as a whole, pitching to 3.57 ERA. If the left-hander is able to set down the Orioles potent offense early on, Kyle Bradish should have no trouble against a Mets lineup featuring plenty of underachieving hitters. Bradish’s stuff isn’t overpowering, but the Mets have been poor against RHP this season, so I have no problem backing the NRFI.
