Another week in the 2025 Major League Baseball season begins with a 10-game schedule on Monday. I’m on a heater to start the year, with a 12-7-1 record so far in my MLB best bets articles while going 3-for-4 on MLB Same Game Parlays at +481, +632 and +439 odds. MLB best bets: New York Mets vs Minnesota Twins Under 8.5 (-125)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing

Joe Ryan is taking the mound for Minnesota on Monday, and that should be good news for the home team. Ryan boasts a 2.65 ERA and 0.71 WHIP through 3 starts this season, and he has been every bit as effective as those numbers suggest. The right-hander has recorded 15 strikeouts without walking a single batter in 17.0 innings of work. New York will send Clay Holmes to the mound and he has mowed down 20 hitters in 14.2 innings. Holmes’ ERA is mediocre (4.30), but his stuff is electric. It should also be noted that the Mets’ bullpen comes in with a 1.95 ERA — the 3rd-best mark in baseball.

Both of these ballclubs have been unspectacular at the plate so far in 2025. Minnesota has crossed the plate only 55 times, with New York not much better at 61 runs. 9 of the Twins’ last 11 outings have resulted in no more than 7 runs, while 7 of the Mets’ last 9 have featured 8 runs or fewer. There is no reason to go against those trends in this matchup; let’s back the under in Mets vs Twins as the first of our MLB best bets.

MLB best bets: Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 over Colorado Rockies (-155)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing

The highly touted Dodgers are actually slumping at the moment. They are 3-6 since starting the year 8-0 and have lost consecutive series to the Phillies, Nationals and Cubs. What does that mean? It means they should be about to take out their frustration on the Rockies, who are perhaps the worst team in Major League Baseball. Colorado is dead last in the entire MLB standings at 3-12, including 1-8 on the road.

There is no reason to think that anything will get better for the visitors on Monday night. Antonio Senzatela is taking the mound for them and he is 0-2 with a 5.14 ERA and a shockingly horrendous 2.14 WHIP. Los Angeles is countering with Dustin May, who is sporting a 0.82 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. I know the -155 price on a -1.5 run line isn’t overly appealing, but the value is there for our MLB best bets when the discrepancy in this matchup is so apparent.
