Another week in Major League Baseball begins today, so why not start it off with some enticing YRFI/NRFI bets? There are plenty of options with which to work, as Monday’s schedule includes 11 games.
The YRFI/NRFI market has become extremely popular in baseball betting. After all, you don’t have to sit around for 3 hours (or maybe a lot less now that games are not as long on average!) to see if your bet hits; the satisfaction (or in some cases disappointment) is immediate. It all comes down to the first inning.
Here are my best YRFI/NRFI bets for Monday, and also be sure to check out all of our MLB picks.

Texas Rangers vs Cincinnati Reds: NRFI (-113)
Nick Lodolo is taking the mound, which is generally good news for both the Reds and NRFI bettors. Lodolo’s most recent start was disappointing, but it came against the Rays and it’s also worth noting that he did not allow a run in the first inning. The 25-year-old lefty has given up a run in the opening frame in just 1 of his last 3 appearances. Lodolo’s ERA prior to his blowup against Tampa Bay was 2.12 and he should be able to get back to his successful ways now that he is facing the Rangers instead of the Rays. Lodolo is in just his second season, so nobody in the Texas lineup has ever seen him. That generally favors the pitcher, especially the first time through the order.
The Rangers are countering with Nathan Eovaldi, who has surrendered a first-inning run only once in 4 starts so far this year. In 2 of his last 3 outings Eovaldi has worked at least 5.2 innings while allowing just 2 runs. He now goes up against a Cincinnati lineup that has scored a mere 88 runs (4th-to-last in the National League). With both sides priced at -113, the NRFI has great value.

Boston Red Sox vs Baltimore Orioles: YRFI (+102)
Chris Sale is on the bump for Boston, which means it’s time to sell the NRFI. Sale’s most recent start was actually good, but he is still saddled with an 8.00 ERA through 4 outings. Twice already this season he has surrendered 3 runs in the first inning – once to the Rays and also to none other than the Orioles.
In fact, Monday marks a rematch between Sale and Baltimore’s Dean Kremer. They squared off on April 1 and did not fool anyone. In addition to Sale giving up 3 runs in the first, Kremer yielded 5 runs in just 3.0 innings of work. The YRFI may have already cashed before Sale even throws a pitch, because Kremer could be in for a rough opening frame. Alex Verdugo is 6-for-16 lifetime against him with 2 home runs and 2 doubles; Rafael Devers is 5-for-13 with a homer and a double. I’m shocked that we can get the YRFI at plus money.
