Every day I wake up and do the same routine (0pen my eyes, grab my phone and started scanning lines). I couldn’t believe my eyes this morning when I saw that we had a day MLB game. I literally said, “sweet Jesus, thank you”! It’s the Minnesota Twins and New York Yankees at 2:05pm ET on MLB Network. It won’t quite get us to the Ravens vs Raiders game, but it will get us closer, which is what matters most. I’m guessing a same game parlay is the way to go here.
Before you read on, why not follow me on Twitter real quick? It makes sense. I don’t always have time to post articles on Pickswise, but that doesn’t mean you should miss them. I would actually hate it if you did.

I’m doing the old one-of-these-will-hit thing. You can take each straight for a 1/2 unit and then the parlay for .1 unit. You get a little action, have a chance at a little cash while risking only 1.1% of your roll. I like to call that “Monday afternoon”. This is a good price being that the Yankees just played a few hours ago and now have to turn around and play again. They almost got into a fight, too, so it was an emotional one. The Twins may not be that good but when they win, they win. Their last 4 wins have come by at least 3 runs and that’s all they need to do here. Luis Gil will be on the bump for the Yankees and while he hasn’t been terrible, he hasn’t been great. He also is a walk-everybody guy. We’re talking 7 guys last game. That could help the Twins today since they don’t walk a lot normally but they have been hitting dingers (12, L7 days). Gil doesn’t really give up the long ball but if he slips up today, he’s in trouble.

Luis Gil over 5.5 strikeouts (-104)
I know I just said that the Twins were going to win by at least 3 runs and that Gil walks everybody but hear me out. The kid strikes a lot of guys out too. He’s hit this number in 3 of his last 4 starts. Even the one in which he walked 7 guys. That’s pretty crazy. Today he gets the Twins, who we can definitely target in the strikeout market. Over the last week only 4 teams in MLB have struck out more than they have — 62 times in 240 at-bats is not horrific, but it’s definitely interesting when we need only 6. I think Gil can last 4-5 innings today and if he does, he could easily give up 3-4 runs while still managing at least 6 strikeouts.
