The 2022 MLB season is now fully underway, and we’ve got a great slate today to kickstart the new week. The standout matchup, though, is between the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets. Both teams already have 7 wins on the board this season and are looking to be red-hot contenders this season. The Mets just beat the Diamondbacks 5-0, while the Giants are on fire after 5 straight wins. What better way to add some further spice to this matchup than by betting a same game parlay? Let’s break down our best picks for the action.

San Francisco Giants -1.5 alt. run line (+194)

Over 6.5 (-128)

Tylor Megill over 5.5 Ks (-138)

Parlay odds: +1010

We’ve got a three-leg parlay here that pays out over 10/1 with FanDuel Sportsbook. Let’s break each part of it down:

San Francisco Giants -1.5 alternate run line (+194)

There’s no doubt about it — the Giants’ success last season was no fluke. They now hold a 7-2 record after beating the Guardians in 3 straight games, in a series which saw them score 16 runs and allow only four. The Giants’ pitching has been tremendous and they are 1st in MLB in ERA.

Alex Cobb gets the start for the Giants in this one while Tylor Megill will be on the mound for the Mets. Cobb makes his second start of the season after striking out 10 in just 5 innings against the Padres last week. If he pitches like that again, then the Giants have a great shot at pulling off the upset win. The Mets have been a touch inconsistent at times this season, and if they are off their game, then San Francisco should be able to get the comfortable win.

Over 6.5 (-128)

This is one of the lowest run totals of the season so far, but is understandable given the early success of Cobb and Megill. However, oddsmakers may be overcompensating for that and it has produced a great buy-low opportunity on runs, especially for the purposes of this same game parlay when taking the Giants on the run line. The Giants and Mets both haven’t been shy when it comes to putting runs on the board, with the Mets reaching 5 in 3 of their last 4 games. Both Cobb and Megill are due some regression, and this could be the game where it happens. Go with the over.

Tylor Megill over 5.5 Ks (-138)

We get a nice odds boost for this same game parlay by taking the over on Megill’s strikeouts alongside the Giants on the run line and the over. However, I don’t think there’s as much conflict as the sportsbooks think. Starting with Megill, his pitching has been phenomenal so far this season. In 2 games, he is yet to allow a walk or run, and registered 11 total strikeouts. He’s playing with plenty of confidence, and it’s hard to see the Giants causing him too many issues in this matchup either.

Megill typically pitches 5 innings before the bullpen takes over, and it has been in the latter part of games when the Giants have started putting runs on the board. Overall, I can see this being a close game in the early going before San Francisco takes control. If that happens, then this 10/1 same game parlay has a great chance of cashing.
