With Opening Day in the rearview mirror, we are off and running in this 2024 Major League Baseball season. Action on the diamond continues with a new week, starting with a 14-game slate on Monday. We have a trio of afternoon contests on the docket before the Rangers and Rays are set for an intriguing matchup at 6:50 pm ET on FS1. Meanwhile, the nightcap features 2024’s first installment of the NL West rivalry between the Dodgers and Giants.

Below is my mega parlay for Monday; also be sure to check out all of our MLB picks.

Tigers ML (+114)

Cubs -1.5 (+114)

Diamondbacks ML (+106)

MLB parlay odds: +843

For this parlay I am going with 1 favorite on the run line and 2 underdogs on the money line. Let’s break down each of the 3 legs.

Detroit Tigers ML over New York Mets (+114)

The Tigers opened the season with a sweep of the White Sox, only adding hype to the train that was already buzzing given the youth and talent on this squad. Reese Olson is one of those young talents and he will toe the rubber on Monday following a solid but unspectacular 203 campaign. The Mets, on the other hand, were swept by the Brewers on opening weekend. That’s pretty much on par for New York, which figures to have no chance competing with Atlanta and Philadelphia in a high-powered NL East. For the Mets, Sean Manaea is trying to pitch himself back into a starting role after spending most of last season working in the San Francisco bullpen as an opener or a long reliever. Getting the Tigers are plus money in this matchup is a steal.

Chicago Cubs -114 over Colorado Rockies (+114)

The Cubs host the Rockies in their home opener at Wrigley Field on Monday afternoon, relying on newly acquired starter Shota Imanaga to push them back to .500 following Sunday’s 9-5 win over the Rangers. Imanaga already endeared himself to Cubs fans by quoting “Go, Cubs, Go” lyrics in his introductory press conference. Now he has a chance to impresse them on the mound. Imanaga makes his major-league debut following a successful career in the NPB. While some season-long projections predict Imanaga might struggle with home runs (allowing anywhere from 0.99 to 1.5 home runs per 9 innings), with winds expected to be blowing in at Wrigley Field on Monday those concerns are limited. Additionally, Colorado right-hander Dakota Hudson (6-3, 5.06 FIP in 2023) struggled to generate strikeouts last season (ranking in the 1st percentile for K-rate). Give me Chicago to secure a multi-run win at Wrigley.

Arizona Diamondbacks ML over New York Yankees (+106)

The Yankees are coming off an impressive season-opening sweep of the Astros. Following four consecutive wins in Houston, you have to think New York will crash back to Earth at some point. That point may be now, as a road series in Arizona continues a tough starting stretch in 2024. The Diamondbacks are also off to a stellar start to their National League title defense, having taken 3 of 4 games from the Rockies while scoring 32 runs. Ryne Nelson takes the mound on Monday and aside from 1 poor outing against the Phillies in a laughable 10-0 NLCS loss, he was mostly effective throughout the final 2 months of last season. The visitors are countering with Luis Gil, who has made 7 lifetime MLB appearances and has not pitched since working a grand total of 4.0 innings in 2022. This is a great opportunity for the Snakes to continue mashing the ball.
