The Major League Baseball season has started with a bang as the new rules have created more excitement and made the game much quicker. With a full slate taking place on Sunday, I have looked through today’s MLB games and found 3 picks that combine for a +723 payout at FanDuel Sportsbook. Texas Rangers -2.5 alternate run line over Kansas City Royals (+126)
To start our mega parlay, we’re going to be backing the Texas Rangers on the run line. Jacob deGrom got off to a shaky start on Opening Day, but he’s been his usual excellent self since that point. On Monday, he’ll be facing a Royals team that he just held to 2 runs over 7 innings of work in his last outing. I would expect a similar result in this one, even away from the friendly confines of Arlington.
On the other side, Jordan Lyles just surrendered 4 runs on 8 hits in a loss to the Rangers in his last start and things shouldn’t deviate from that script in Kansas City. Lyles is still carrying an xERA of 5.80 and is in the bottom 10 percentile among all qualified pitchers in xBA and whiff rate. Texas should jump out to an early lead and never look back.

Los Angeles Angels vs Boston Red Sox Under 8.5 (-110)
For the second leg of our mega parlay, we’re going with the under in Boston. It all starts with Shohei Ohtani on the mound for the Angels, as he holds an ERA of 0.87 after 3 starts. Over 19 innings pitched, Ohtani has allowed just 1 run and 6 hits while recording 24 strikeouts in the process. Hitters are 6-for-60 with a 32% strikeout rate against Ohtani, and that shouldn’t change on Monday.
Brayan Bello is one of the top prospects for a Red Sox team that is in desperate need of pitching. He was excellent in his rehab start this month, allowing just 1 run and 4 hits in 6 innings while throwing 50 strikes of the 81 pitches. Given the outstanding pitching of Ohtani and the promise of Bello, it’s hard not to back the under while it hovers above 8 runs.

San Francisco Giants vs Miami Marlins Under 7.5 (-110)
For the final leg in our mega parlay, we’re going with another under, this time between the Giants and Marlins. Much like a season ago, the Marlins’ offense has been dreadful this month. Miami ranks 30th in runs per game and the Fish have struggled against right-handed pitching, ranking 23rd in batting average and 26th in OPS this season. Things won’t get easier against Logan Webb, who will be pitching on extra rest as well.
San Francisco hasn’t been much better at the plate, specifically against left-handed pitching. The Giants rank 27th in batting average, 28th in on-base percentage and 30th in OPS against southpaws. Jesus Luzardo currently has a 1.93 ERA with a 2.67 xERA, so I don’t expect things to get any easier for a struggling Giants lineup in this one.
