It’s one of the slowest days in all of baseball today. Only 6 teams are set to take the field which means only 3 games will be taking place on Monday, July 1. The first game starts in the afternoon and features the Astros and Blue Jays north of the border, followed by the Mets and Nationals in our Nation’s Capital, and the day is concluded with a late start in Colorado between the Brewers and Rockies. I chose one pick from each game to make up today’s MLB parlay at +709. Let’s dive in, but make sure you find out our MLB picks for each of those matchups.
Astros -1.5 (+112)
Nationals ML (-106)
Brewers -1.5 (+100)
MLB parlay odds: +709

Houston Astros -1.5 over Toronto Blue Jays (+112)
Hunter Brown’s season has been quite unusual. The young right-hander was expected to take another step in the right direction towards being an ace this season, but Brown had a 9.78 ERA after his first 6 starts. His control was abnormally bad and he was allowing more home runs than ever. However, something flipped for him in May. Brown posted a 3.42 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP in May and then a stunning 1.16 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in June. He’s limited hitters to just a .188 batting average and .184 xBA since the middle of May. Brown is in the midst of the best stretch of his young career right now, so I’m backing him again today in our MLB parlay to dominate the Blue Jays.

Washington Nationals ML over New York Mets (-106)
A new era of Nationals baseball is upon us. The Nationals called up top prospect James Wood over the weekend to make his debut this week. The 6’7” outfielder has been on a tear in the Minor Leagues and is hitting a ridiculous .353 with a 1.058 OPS in 52 Triple-A games. Wood will provide a much-needed boost to the lineup, and on the mound, it will be the young lefty MacKenzie Gore. Gore has been roughed up a bit in his most recent starts but he’s still getting plenty of swings and misses, which makes me still have faith in him. Countering Gore is David Peterson, who is statistically having a terrible season. The lefty ranks in the 3rd percentile in xBA and xERA, which means his 3.67 ERA is not accurate. Take the better pitcher and side with the Nats in our MLB parlay.
Milwaukee Brewers -1.5 over Colorado Rockies (+100)
It’s the start of a new series in Colorado as the Brewers and Rockies get ready for a 4-game set. It’s been a rough first half of the season for the Rockies while the Brewers still hold first place in the NL Central, so it’s no surprise which team I’m siding with tonight. Milwaukee will be facing lefty Austin Gomber, who had a stellar start to the year but has come back to Earth very fast. Gomber posted a ridiculous 0.68 ERA in May and followed it up with an 0-3, 9.39 ERA and 1.83 WHIP performance in June. In his 5 starts last month, Gomber allowed a .350 batting average and a .315 xBA along with just a 14% strikeout rate. He’s getting lit up and not getting a lot of swings and misses, so I’m expecting a big win from Milwaukee to round off today’s MLB parlay picks.
