We are beginning a new week in Major League Baseball with a 13-game slate, which is rather sizable by Monday standards. It’s Labor Day, and a national holiday means a whole host of matchups are being played in the afternoon – 9, to be exact. It all gets started at 12:35 pm ET, when the Mets pay a visit to the Pirates. That is bookended with a National League West showdown between the Giants and Dodgers. Meanwhile, all three of the AL Central contenders – the White Sox, Twins and Guardians – are also in action.
It’s time to take a look at the three components of today’s mega parlay. I cashed yesterday’s at +820 odds, so let’s keep the momentum rolling!
Yankees -1.5 (+115)
Cardinals -1.5 (+100)
Rangers ML (+145)
Parlay odds: +954
For this parlay we are going with two favorites on the run line and one underdog on the money line. Let’s break down each of the three legs one by one.

New York Yankees -1.5 over Minnesota Twins (+115)
The Yankees recently allowed the Rays to pull within just a few games of the AL East lead, but a huge 2-1 win by New York in the series finale against Tampa Bay on Sunday pushed the advantage back to 5. The Bronx Bombers should continue to secure breathing room with more success on Monday. They won their last series against the Twins and that was on the road. Now the Yankees are at home and for the series opener they will send Jameson Taillon to the mound. Taillon has been in outstanding form, whereas Minnesota had lost 8 consecutive starts made by Chris Archer until it finally got the job done in his most recent outing. Look for the Yanks to build on the much-needed momentum they compiled on Sunday.

St. Louis Cardinals -1.5 over Washington Nationals (+100)
The Nationals are coming off back-to-back wins over the Mets, but let’s not get carried away. In general, they are a terrible team and will likely come back to Earth against the Cardinals. Washington is saddled with the league’s worst team ERA and will be starting a 16-year veteran in Anibal Sanchez. He was on the mound during the only other series between these two teams in 2022 and allowed 6 runs in a 4-run loss. St. Louis went 22-7 in August to seize a considerable lead in the NL Central. The resurgence of future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols has been a nice compliment to NL MVP favorite Paul Goldschmidt.

Texas Rangers ML over Houston Astros (+145)
Sure the Astros are a far superior team, but the pitching matchup gives the Rangers a chance. In fact, it gives them a very good chance – to the extent that a +145 price is most definitely a steal. Martin Perez is going for Texas and he has emerged as one of the game’s elite pitchers. It’s already September and Perez is still sporting an ERA in the mid-2.00s. He works primarily in the bottom of the zone and has exploited lineups that are heavy on right-handed hitters. The Rangers are a whopping 17-9 in his starts this season. Meanwhile, the Astros are starting Hunter Brown – who is making his major-league debut. The Rangers have actually posted a wRC+ higher than the Astros since August 1 (112 to 103) and should be able to do some damage against an inexperienced opposing pitcher.
