After cashing last night’s Astros vs Phillies Same Game Parlay, we’ve now hit 2 of the last 3 games and 4 of our last 6 SGPs involving the Astros. Let’s keep things rolling with what has been an incredible World Series thus far.
Houston’s win last night evened things up at 2 games apiece, as it no-hit the Phillies. It was a combined no-hitter, and was the 2nd no-no in World Series history. If this Fall Classic has taught us anything, it’s that we can expect the unexpected tonight.

Let’s take a closer look at each leg of our same game parlay.
Each team over 2.5 total runs (+125)
We have preached this several times before, and it has proven to be for good reason. One of the most difficult things to do as a sports bettor is to not base a play solely off of what you just saw. So taking an over a night after the Phillies were just no-hit may seem surprising. However, this World Series has been a roller-coaster and each game is its own individual situation. For that reason, we’re preferring not to pick a side this time around, even with Astros ace Justin Verlander on the mound. Houston gave him a 5-0 lead in Game 1, only to see him blow it and the Phillies win the game 6-5. If you’re like us, you’d prefer to avoid that anxiety and stress. It also proves that Verlander’s struggles in the World Series are very real.
In 8 career appearances in the Fall Classic, Verlander is 0-6 with a 6.07 ERA. Therefore we don’t expect the Phillies to perform nearly as poorly at the plate as last night. We warned not to dwell on just 1 game after the Astros were shut out in Game 3, and lo and behold they came through with another 5-run performance. That was the third time in the first 4 games of this World Series they’ve gotten off to 5-0 leads, so we know they can score. That holds true with Phillies Noah Syndergaard on the mound tonight. He faced Houston earlier this season when he was still with the Los Angeles Angels, and he was pulled in just 4.0 innings of work. That game ended as a 6-5 Astros win, so it’s safe to say we can expect runs from both teams tonight.

Yordan Alvarez to record a hit (-210)
So far we have watched Jose Altuve and Kyle Tucker come through for us, so now it’s time to target who many would consider the best slugger on the Astros. In fact, Yordan Alvarez was having an MVP-caliber season until he missed some time due to injury. Even still, the lefty racked up 288 total bases in just 135 games.
That was the 7th-most in the AL, and doing so in such fewer games left him with an even higher slugging percentage (.613) than everyone ahead of him except for Yankees Aaron Judge. Although many remember him for his bombs he can hit to the upper deck, he is not home-run dependent. Alvarez has 29 doubles and 2 triples to go along with his 37 homers this season. Admittedly, he hasn’t had the most impressive postseason thus far. However, he gets to face Syndergaard tonight. Expect Alvarez to expand on his single and RBI last night.
Don’t miss out on our YRFI/NRFI best bet for tonight’s Game 5 – we’ve hit each of the last 2 games!
Bryce Harper to record a hit (-180)
It’s about time we give some love to the Phillies in terms of props for our SGPs. It’s only fitting that we target Bryce Harper in this spot, as cliché as it may seem. He is having an absolutely incredible postseason, even with the team getting no-hit last night. Harper is one of the primary reasons the Phillies are even here, and he continues to lead the way amongst hitters in the postseason. His 21 hits are 5 more than any other player, and his ridiculous .789 slugging percentage is unmatched.
Of those 21 hits, 6 have been doubles and another 6 have been homers. He also hasn’t slowed down due to the Astros’ elite pitching staff. It was Harper that got things started with a 2-run homer in the 1st inning of Game 3 to spark the 7-0 rout the Phillies put on Houston in Game 3. The reigning NL MVP is also not intimidated by any pitcher — not even Verlander. We have already noted Verlander’s World Series struggles; Harper had 2 hits in that Game 1 with him on the mound. This is a crucial Game 5 for both sides, and Harper seems to step up in the biggest moments.
