Following a quieter Thursday on the diamond, the MLB action picks up again with another exciting 15-game slate on the docket. With every team in action, there is plenty to attack and craft an MLB parlay. Let’s dive into today’s MLB parlay picks, as games get underway at 2:20 pm ET with the Cardinals taking on the Cubs and concluding with the Rockies taking on the Padres at 9:40 pm ET.

Diamondbacks -1.5 (+124)

Red Sox ML (-112)

Phillies ML (-105)

MLB parlay odds: +727

For this MLB parlay I am going with a bet on the Diamondbacks to win by multiple runs, plus the Red Sox and Phillies on the money line. Let’s break down each of the 3 legs.

Arizona Diamondbacks -1.5 over Pittsburgh Pirates (+110)

To start it off I’m going with the Arizona Diamondbacks on the run line. Winners of 7 of their last 10, the Diamondbacks are in fine form heading into this contest and just took 2 of 3 against this same Pirates team last week. Since moving into the Pirates rotation, Luis Ortiz had reeled off 5 straight starts of 1 run or less prior to giving up 3 last week to the D-Backs. Brandon Pfaadt is the far more talented arm and he’s pitching well of late as well, posting 4 starts of 1 run or less over his last 5 outings. The difference for me in this game is the hot-hitting Arizona lineup, as the Snakes hold a top-10 slugging percentage against right-handers on the season. Conversely, Pittsburgh is near the bottom of the league in that respect, which bodes well for Pfaadt. Let’s take Arizona and grab a bit of value on the run line.

Boston Red Sox ML over Texas Rangers (-112)

For the second leg I’m going with the Boston Red Sox on the money line. Boston starter Kutter Crawford has had a difficult couple of starts entering this game, but he did go up against a couple of the more lethal lineups in the sport with the Dodgers and Yankees as his recent opponents. Now, Crawford will get to face a Rangers lineup that sits at 23rd in wOBA since July 1. Having consistently provided his team with 5 or 6 competitive innings, I expect him to deliver a solid outing and do enough for the Red Sox to win on the road.

It also helps that Boston has one of the better lineups in the league at the moment. The Red Sox rank 1st in wOBA, 4th in hard-hit rate and their wRC+ leads MLB against right-handed pitching since July 1. On Friday this Red Sox team will face Jose Urena, and this is a matchup they should be able to take advantage of. Urena has been a bullpen piece for the majority of the season, making 19 of his 25 appearances in a relief role so far. His expected metrics suggest that serious regression is due, so let’s back this Red Sox lineup to make him pay on Friday.

Philadelphia Phillies ML over Seattle Mariners (+160)

To close out this MLB parlay I have the Philadelphia Phillies on the money line. It’s been the worst stretch of the season for the Phillies since the All-Star break, as they’ve lost lost all 4 series played since the break and are just a combined 3-9 during that span. Currently coming off a sweep at the hands of the Yankees in their last series, it’s becoming desperate times for Philadelphia to get back on track. The team heads to Seattle now where they will embark on a 10-game road trip, facing the Mariners, Dodgers, and Diamondbacks in that span.

Tyler Phillips will start for the Phillies today and he is fresh off a complete game shutout against Cleveland in his last outing, so I’m looking for another strong effort against a poor Mariners lineup. On the other side, Bryan Woo will start for the Mariners who have won just 5 of their 12 games, including a sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Angels. Woo’s 2 starts since the break have resulted in him throwing just 70 and 73 pitches as the team continues to monitor his workload with the right-hander returning from injury. I expect a much better effort from the Phillies lineup in this one and I can’t back Seattle’s bats to do the same.
