Texas Rangers -1.5 (+126) over Cleveland Guardians

For this Same Game Parlay, I’m taking a relatively simple approach – take the better of the teams on the run line, back a .355 hitter to record 2+ total bases, and back MLB’s RBI leader to drive in a run. The Rangers won in convincing fashion last night with a 12-4 victory and 21 of their last 22 wins have been by at least 2 runs. Left-hander Andrew Heaney takes the ball for Texas in what will be his 18th start of the season. Heaney has been shaky this year and is posting a 4.71 ERA on the heels of a let-down outing against the Nationals. Heaney lasted only 3.0 innings after surrendering 7 earned runs on 8 hits.

Although Heaney had a rough outing his last time out, the Rangers’ lineup are more than capable of hitting their way back into a game if things go south. They’ll be going up against an inexperienced pitcher in Gavin Williams, making his 5th start for Cleveland since being called up from the Columbus Clippers. Facing any big-league lineup is no easy task, but there are surely fewer obstacles in the way when 3 of your first 4 starts come against the A’s and Royals. The Rangers are a major step up in competition and Williams will be tested against some established hitters. I’m going to fade Williams and his lack of experience and back the Rangers to put up another impressive day at the plate.

Corey Seager to record 2+ total bases (+100)

Although Corey Seager missed a significant amount of time this season due to injury, he’s arguably been the best shortstop in baseball when healthy and was named the starting shortstop for the American League this year. In 60 games, Seager has a slash line of .355/.416/.628 with 54 RBI and 13 HR. Seager hit .345 in  June and is batting .405 through 10 games in July displaying a tremendous amount of consistency. Seager has reached base safely in 13 of his last 14 games and recorded 2+ total bases in 9 of those games.

With how consistent Seager has been, getting this at plus-odds is a great deal. Seager went for 6 total bases last night after a 2-for-4 performance which included a double and a solo homer. I’m backing the All-Star shortstop to follow up with another solid approach at the plate this evening. Back Seager to record at least 2 bases against the inexperienced Williams and the Guardians’ pitching staff as a whole.

Adolis Garcia to record an RBI (+120)

Adolis Garcia was named to his second All-Star game this season and leads the MLB with 78 RBI. Garcia added 3 more last night after going 3-for-5 with an RBI single and a 2-run homer and will look to add even more today. Batting behind Marcus Semien, Seager and Nathanial Lowe would be any clean-up hitter’s dream and its why Garcia has been so successful this season.

Garcia has already driven in 12 runs through 10 games in July, while batting .293 with 4 homers. With how productive the guys ahead of him have been, expect Garcia to be placed in some favorable opportunities this afternoon. Seager recording 2+ total bases should go hand-in-hand with Garcia and his ability to drive him in. Back Garcia as the last leg of this Same Game Parlay.
