Entering the season, it looked like a Guardians-White Sox series the week of the trade deadline would have plenty of juice in terms of the division race. Although that is not the case as the White Sox have really struggled, this game and series still has playoff race implications for the Guardians. Chicago will look to play spoiler to its division rivals down the stretch while Cleveland looks to make a push to win the AL Central.

Guardians -1.5 (+105)
The Guardians have had a very good week at an important time in the season. They have won 5 of their last 7 games and are 7-3 in their last 10. In those 10 games, they are 7-3 against the spread. They now find themselves just 1.5 games back of the Twins for the AL Central lead. If the Guardians are going to win the division, they absolutely have to beat teams such as the White Sox.
The White Sox are in a bad way. They have lost 6 straight games and their last 5 at home. They are also 2-5 in their last 7 games at home to Cleveland. In July, the White Sox are 4-15 and theey have begun selling off assets ahead of the trade deadline. This is a team to pounce on right now.

Over 10.5 (-110)
A total of 10.5 seems high outside of Coors Field, especially for Guardians-White Sox. But Vegas has set it high for a reason. The total has gone over in 8 of Cleveland’s last 11 games and in 7 of their last 8 on the road, including the last 5. The over has also hit in 5 of Chicago’s last 6 games.
Although the under has been more prominent this season for both teams, the over is 15-7 in their last combined last 11 games. In the past 2 weeks, both the Guardians and White Sox have shown volatility in the form of either scoring runs in bunches or allowing runs in bunches. The starting pitchers in this game have combined for just 6 total starts in 2022 and present a relative unknown which also looks good for a potential high total.

Josh Naylor 1+ RBIs (+115)
Josh Naylor has been as steady and reliable of a hitter as the Guardians could have hoped this season. He leads Cleveland with a .304 batting average and he also has 15 home runs, 79 RBIs and an .849 OPS. That is a very productive hitter. On a team in a playoff race that is not exactly a run factory, Josh Naylor presents as good of an opportunity as anyone in the lineup to produce.
In the Guardians’ 6-3 win in this series opening game on Thursday, Naylor went 2-4 with a pair of doubles, a walk, 3 RBIs and 4 total bases. That big performance contributed to a July in which he is hitting .333 with 5 home runs and 21 RBIs and has a .976 OPS. Naylor is seeing the ball well and it is paying off for the Guardians.
