These AL Central foes will now be facing each other for 6 straight days after last night’s postponement. The same starting pitching matchup is scheduled to take place today, which should be advantageous for the visitors. There’s more than just the pitchers to analyze in this matchup, so let’s take a deeper dive. Let’s take a closer look at each leg of our same game parlay.
Guardians -1.5 (+115) over Detroit Tigers
Not only should the Guardians be expected to win Saturday’s game, they should also be able to do so in convincing fashion. They will have their ace, Shane Bieber, on the mound — who also just got an extra day of rest due to yesterday’s postponement. He has been incredible against the Tigers, and is one of the hottest pitching matchups going today against their respective competition.
Even if he wasn’t dominant against Detroit, Alex Faedo of the Tigers is in for some regression. His numbers do not appear poor on paper, but his expected averages are much higher across the board. The Guardians bats should be able to get to him, and won’t need much to pull out a multi-run win. The Tigers have struggled to produce run support for any of their pitchers, as they have scored the fewest runs in the league. With a pitcher due for regression and a struggling lineup to back him up, Cleveland should be in for a nice Saturday afternoon.

Under 7.5 (-130)
The combination of Bieber’s great history of success against the Tigers and their lack of run production is the perfect recipe for an under. Detroit has just a .203 batting average against the Guardians ace and a .268 on-base percentage. Bieber’s great numbers aren’t just a small sample size either; those are based off of 118 at-bats, 43 of which he has struck out. There is no reason to expect the Tigers to begin producing today, as they haven’t been able to do so all season. With just 122 runs, they are 27 behind the Pirates just one spot ahead of them. With Detroit’s struggling lineup, the Guardians can still get a win by more than 1 run while staying under the total.
Jose Ramirez 2+ total bases (+110)
On the opposite end of the spectrum from Detroit’s lack of run production is Jose Ramirez of the Guardians. He is leading the American League with 43 RBI and is just 2 behind Pete Alonso for the league lead. For better perspective, he’s played 6 less games than Alonso. He’s been able to drive home so many runs with frequent extra-base hits. He has 11 doubles, 3 triples and 11 home runs on the season. He certainly has the power, but we’re focusing on the total base prop while he is playing in Comerica Park. While the Tigers’ home stadium is terrible for home runs, it ranks as the 10th-best for extra-base hits. With Ramirez’s ability to get 2 or more bases with just a single swing, there should be no concern for him hitting this prop against Faedo.
