I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. There’s no better way to cap off a weekend than with a full MLB slate all throughout the day. We aren’t wasting any time getting things started either. This AL Central clash is the first game of the day. Just as ESPN has its Sunday Night Baseball, Peacock has been featuring a matchup prior to the rest of the afternoon games starting. This is quite an important game too. The White Sox and Guardians are both battling the Twins in a 3-team race atop the division. With so much on the line, there’s plenty of markets to make this series finale profitable. Along with this same game parlay, be sure to check out our thoughts on the side and total for all of today’s games.

White Sox ML (-126)

Luis Robert 2+ total bases (-135)

Amed Rosario 2+ total bases (+125)

Let’s take a closer look at each leg of our same game parlay.

Chicago White Sox ML (-126) over Cleveland Guardians

Per usual, the White Sox have created quite the interesting dynamic in the betting market. This game opened at around -120, inexplicably went to the Sox being underdogs at +100, and then back to this number. They’re a team that’s been in flux all season due to injuries. However, they look to be set with everyone except for Tim Anderson, which is not expected for the next few weeks. There was uncertainty with Eloy Jimenez after leaving Friday’s game, but he was already back in the lineup last night. All of that is without mentioning the primary reason this is great value on the Sox.

Ace and AL Cy Young-candidate Dylan Cease will be on the mound for Chicago. He’s been absolutely dominant and is having a historical season. He allowed either 0 or 1 earned run for 14 consecutive starts spanning from May to August. That was only snapped by the American League-best Astros. The Guardians are nowhere near that caliber. Cease proved that twice during that 14-game stretch, as Cleveland never scored a run against him across 11.2 innings. Keep in mind that Cease has racked up 12 wins this season, the 2nd-most in the AL, while having a depleted lineup for the majority of the season. Now that they’re at least closer to intact, Cease should help the Sox get closer to that AL Central crown.

Luis Robert 2+ total bases (-135)

There’s been a lot of emphasis on Cease and the Sox thus far. We’re going to keep it with Chicago in terms of their lineup, but shift to Guardians starter Aaron Civale. This will be just his 3rd start since being on the injured list for nearly a month. He’s only had to face the Tigers since his return, who have scored the fewest runs in the league. Now he’ll be taking on several hitters with a history of success against him. There’s plenty to choose from, but we’re going with Luis Robert to bounce back.

He had just a single last night, but he should bounce back well against Civale. Robert has a .667 slugging percentage against the Guardian starter, and a .548 slugging percentage against the Guardians overall this season. Despite missing over 30 games this year, he still has over 100 hits and 153 total bases. His only issue has been staying healthy. Now that he is, and at the top of the order with a great matchup against Civale, trust Robert to rack up the bases today.

Amed Rosario 2+ total bases (+125)

It may seem strange to target a Guardians hitter with Cease on the mound. It’s probably even more surprising that it’s not All-Star Jose Ramirez. However, this is not about either of those guys. Cease should still have a great day, and Ramirez actually has not been as consistent against the Sox this season. It’s actually Amed Rosario who is having the best time at the plate against Chicago this season. He’s hitting .400 with a .500 slugging percentage.

That success against the Sox is only a fraction of the 133 hits he’s produced this season, the 7th-most in baseball. Along with his 21 doubles, he leads the entire league with 7 triples. Such consistency has him with 192 total bases, the 14th-most in the American League. It’s more likely he adds to those numbers against the White Sox’s 9th-worst bullpen, but it’s not impossible against Cease. He’s batting .308 against him, including a double. Regardless of when it happens, Rosario should cap off our same game parlay to start this MLB Sunday.
