MLB Atlanta Braves vs St. Louis Cardinals same game parlay (+310 odds) today 8/27: Back Austin Riley and the Braves

Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley (27) reacts after hitting an RBI double against the Philadelphia Phillies in the first inning at Citizens Bank Park.

The Atlanta Braves asserted their dominance in the series opener as they won 11-4. It was an exciting game from the first pitch to the last, and Saturday night’s game should be even better. It will feature an excellent pitching matchup with a perfect opportunity for a same game parlay.

Let’s take a closer look at each leg of our same game parlay.

Atlanta Braves -1.5 over St. Louis Cardinals (+146)

The Braves opened the series with a massive 11-4 win over Jose Quintana and the Cardinals last night. That was their second game in a row of scoring 10 or more runs, so they have now scored 25 in their last 2 games. Their offense has been non-stop this season and they get to face yet another lefty in Jordan Montgomery. Since being acquired by the Cardinals at the trade deadline, Montgomery has been spectacular. He’s exceeded all expectations St. Louis had for him, but he will have his toughest challenge against a Braves lineup that ranks in the top 3 in almost every offensive category against left-handed pitching. In their careers against Montgomery, the Atlanta lineup have a .324 batting average and a .322 xBA in 41 plate appearances. I expect the Braves lineup to continue smashing lefties and pick up the multi-run win.

Austin Riley 2+ bases (+105)

It’s been a career season for Austin Riley, who recently signed a massive extension to stay in Atlanta. In last night’s game, he was 0-for-2 with 3 walks and it was clear the Cardinals were not going to let Riley beat them. However, with Montgomery on the mound, who has been playing lights out in the last 3 weeks, I expect St. Louis to challenge Riley and attack him. This season against southpaws, Riley has a .357 batting average, a .757 slugging percentage and a 1.201 OPS. He’s been one of the best hitters against lefty-pitching in baseball this season, and he can cash this leg of the parlay with one swing of the bat.
