Unfortunately but not surprisingly, the second round of the Masters was unable to be completed on Friday. The storm system moved in during the afternoon, first cancelling play for 20 minutes a little after 3:00 pm ET. Although the golfers briefly got back out on the course, more inclement weather loomed and then a massive tree fell near the 17th hole tee box (thankfully no one was hurt). At that point tournament officials shut things down for the rest of the day.
As it stands, Brooks Koepka is the outright leader at 12-under par. Koepka is in the clubhouse, while Jon Rahm has reached 9-under through 9 holes. Amateur Sam Bennett, who – along with Koepka – has been the story of the 2023 Masters so far, holds solo third at 8-under and has completed his round.
Given their current standing on the leaderboard and their history as major champions, Koepka and Rahm are overwhelming favorites. But with more bad weather on the way and still more than half the tournament to go, things could get crazy at Augusta National this weekend.
Let’s take a look at the current odds and the best bets to be made heading into Saturday.

Pick to win: Jon Rahm +190
If I had to pick a golfer to win the tournament, not taking odds into the account, it would be Rahm. He is 9-under with 9 holes still left in his second round. Conditions are definitely going to be soft given all of the rain, so the greens will be more receptive than they are under normal circumstances in Augusta. As long the wind isn’t crazy, the Spaniard should have a good chance to match Koepka atop the leaderboard or at least get closer. If it comes down to a 2-man, head-to-head duel (which is possible but not necessarily probable), I would lean toward Rahm. He has been in better form than Koepka of late and is far more battle tested in pressure-packed moments given that he is still on the PGA Tour and the American has taken his talents to LIV.
Longshot bet: Jordan Spieth (+2000)
To be clear, I don’t think either Koepka or Rahm has any value at +140 and +190, respectively. Those odds are just too short this early into the tournament. My favorite plays are on Collin Morikawa and Jordan Spieth, with Spieth being the best of the lot since his odds are considerably higher than Morikawa’s (+2000 to +1400) even though he is only 1 shot back (5-under to 6-under). Both guys have won multiple major titles and Spieth’s history of success at the Masters is impressive (1 win and 4 other top-3 performances). Especially if conditions get a little bit wild, Spieth definitely has a chance to sneak back into contention and steal the green jacket.
