The Los Angeles Rams will look to pull off the biggest upset of the NFL season as they go on the road to face the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s not often that a defending Super Bowl champion is a +15.5 underdog at any point in the following season, but that is the case today. After all, the 2022 campaign has been a disastrous one for Los Angeles and now it is without starting quarterback Matthew Stafford. Kansas City, on the other hand, continues to be a well-oiled machine.
Here are our predictions and best bets for this Rams-Chiefs showdown.

Los Angeles Rams vs Kansas City Chiefs expert picks
We have 2 NFL picks for this week’s clash between Los Angeles and Kansas City. Let’s take a look.
Against the spread pick: Rams +15.5 (-110) over Chiefs
It’s still unclear whether it will be John Wolford or Bryce Perkins under center for the Rams, although it looks like Perkins is trending toward starting. It would be the first pro start for the 2020 undrafted free agent from Virginia, who has spent most of the past few seasons on the Rams’ practice squad. Perkins got his first regular-season action last week against the Saints, and he at least showed more promise than Wolford has. He can make plays with his legs, and picked up 39 yards on 5 rush attempts last week. Perkins was thrown into the fire with barely any practice reps, and for this one he at least had the full week to prepare as the starter. In the end, I think the Rams’ defense is good enough to help them stay within this number even if Perkins struggles. The Chiefs look like Super Bowl contenders, but it’s not like they’ve been blowing teams out left and right. Through 10 games, Kansas City has just 2 wins of more than 10 points. Everyone is counting the Rams out — and understandably so — but they are still the defending Super Bowl champions and are going to play with some pride against an elite team. Getting more than 2 touchdowns on the spread with any Sean McVay-coached team is too good to pass up.

Over/Under totals pick: Under 42 (-110)
Playing the Rams on the spread correlates with an under. If Los Angeles is able to keep this one within the number, it’s going to be because of their defense. Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey are going to have to make some plays, because Bryce Perkins isn’t going to light up the scoreboard on the road in his first career start at Arrowhead. Steve Spagnuolo’s defense is starting to come on strong in Kansas City, and Chris Jones is likely to dominate against a very weak Rams offensive line. The Chiefs have sacked Justin Herbert and Trevor Lawrence 5 times each in their past 2 games, so you can only imagine how much pressure they’ll be getting against an inexperienced quarterback with poor pass protection.
