Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl: Baylor vs Air Force College Football Predictions & Best Bets: Falcons are undervalued

Air Force

The 2022 college football bowl season continues on Thursday with the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl, which pits the Baylor Bears against the Air Force Falcons. The Bears are 6-6 this season, but Baylor finished the season on a low note, coming up short against 3 straight Big 12 opponents, including a crushing loss to TCU as time expired. On the other side, Air Force has preseason aspirations of winning the Mountain West, but fell short in a couple of close games early on conference play, which ended up costing the Falcons a shot at a conference title.

Let’s take a look at the best bets to made for Thursday’s Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl.

Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl point-spread prediction: Air Force +4

Baylor finished the season 6-6 but lost their last 3 games to finish the season. It is a disappointing season for the Bears who were 12-2 with a Sugar Bowl win last season. They are playing an Air Force team who has exceeded expectations and had the third-best overall record in the Mountain West. They finished the season 9-3 and won their last 4 games. Both teams are looking to end their season on a win.

Neither team has very many holdouts or draft prospects, so this game should be one of the few bowl games close to a regular season game. Baylor has a high-powered passing offense and averages 33.6 points and 235 passing yards per game. They are playing an Air Force defense that only allows 13.3 points and 256 yards per game. These Air Force players are playing in possibly the last football game they will ever play in and will come ready to go against a tough Baylor team. Take the points in what should be a close game.

Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl game totals prediction: Over 43

Air Force loves to run the ball and has the number-one rushing team in the country. They average 330 rushing yards per game. They are going to try and control the pace of the game and use up the clock by running the ball. It has been a successful strategy this season, but with a passing offense like Baylor’s, they will be able to keep pace with the Falcons. Baylor has hit the over in 7 of their last 9 games and with a total this low, I don’t expect that to change. Take the over.
