Philadelphia 76ers ML over LA Lakers (+148)

Facing the desperate 76ers will be a challenge on the 2nd night of a back-to-back for the Lakers who have just 2 wins in the last 9 meetings and have covered only 4 times in the last 13. Both Paul George and Joel Embiid have been ruled out for Philly here, but Philly’s role players have really stepped up in their back-to-back wins over Cleveland and Chicago. A lot is expected from veterans Eric Gordon and Kelly Oubre. Oubre in particular has played solid basketball lately, scoring 20+ points and grabbing double-digit rebounds in 2 straight games.

Problems also might arise on the inside if Andre Drummond doesn’t recover in time, but according to the latest reports, he should be ready. Philly is counting on the fact that the Lakers haven’t had any rest in between games here. Following last night’s surprising Chicago win over Denver, the 76ers now have to respond in the current battle for the 10th seed in the East. LA has not covered in 6 straight visits to Philadelphia, plus they lost their last road game when playing on  the 2nd night of a back-to-back. Despite their injury issues, there is value in Philly as a home underdog.

Tyrese Maxey to score 35+ points (+250)

With Embiid and George out, it’s quite obvious who the 76ers will turn to in this one. Maxey has been on a heater for a while now, averaging 30.4 points per game over his last 10 outings. Facing a slasher like him will cause problems for a Lakers team that’s had issues with opposing guards all year long. As good as Austin Reaves has been this year, with the additional playmaking responsibilities handed to him, he can no longer focus all of his efforts on the defensive end.

Maxey has torched the Lakers in the last 2 meetings, scoring 31 and 27 points, and he attempted at least 20 field goals in both of those games without committing a single turnover. Anthony Davis went to work last night in Charlotte, scoring 43 points and grabbing 23 rebounds, and it wouldn’t be a shock if the Lakers rested him here. If that’s the case then Maxey should have an open lane to the basket, which will likely allow him to surpass his scoring average. In his last 10 games without Embiid and George, Maxey is averaging 30.5 points per game and has scored at least 30 in 5 of them.
