KBO picks and predictions
Friday’s five-game slate sees some of the league’s top pitchers take the mound, including former Miami Marlins starter Drew Rucinski. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.
Under 9.5 total runs (-112)
The Hanwha Eagles and SK Wyverns will meet up on Friday for most likely another low-scoring affair. Both teams are currently at the bottom of the league in terms of runs scored and not close to any other team in that department. Fun Fact: adding both teams’ total would barely be enough to pass the first-place NC Dinos. The bottom line is both sides rarely score. The Eagles are starting Min-Woo Kim, who has allowed just three runs total in his last two outings. The two most offensively inept teams in the league will showcase why they do so often with another low-scoring game on Friday.
Kiwoom Heroes Moneyline (-118)
One of my favorite bets on the Friday slate belongs to the Kiwoom Heroes Moneyline. Even though the public is all over their opponents, the Kia Tigers, there is a definite advantage that can change someone’s bets on this game. Heroes starting pitcher Won Tae Choi has allowed two earned runs or fewer in six of his 10 starts. Also, Choi took on the Tigers just 10 days ago and shut them out over 7.0 innings. On the flip side, Tigers starting pitcher Hyun-jong Yang owns a double-digit ERA over his last three starts. Fading the public could work out in our favor.
NC Dinos Moneyline (-174)
The LG Twins will finally return home to take on the NC Dinos after an intense series against the Doosan Bears. They managed to win only once against the Bears, leaving momentum at an all-time low for the Twins. The NC Dinos recently finished up a series against the SK Wyverns in which they won two of three. NC continues to rise above the rest of the league, leading Doosan by a handful of games in the regular-season standings. The Dinos are by far the best road team in the KBO, posting a record of 18-8, while the Twins are 14-16 at home (eighth best). Given the success the Dinos have shown away from home, it would be wise to roll with them on Friday morning. Let’s have the Dinos finish off our three-team parlay with a victory.
