KBO picks and predictions
Friday’s 5-game slate features some lopsided matchups that offer value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.
Doosan Bears vs NC Dinos – Under 8.5 runs (+100)
With 2 elite pitchers on the mound, the total certainly looks like a better play. Wes Parsons has had plenty of success against the Bears this season, posting an ERA of 2.25 against them with a record of 1-0. This is over 2 starts, where he has allowed 3 runs over 12.0 innings. Walker Lockett has yet to face the Dinos this season. Though his overall performance this season is more than good enough to believe he can shut down the Dinos without any issues. Both games stayed under the total on Thursday, so here we will look for the same.
SSG Landers vs KT Wiz -1.5 (-113)
The SSG Landers took another step backwards on Thursday morning, losing to the KT Wiz 10-5. They are now .500 on the season, and have lost 5 games in a row. They are also sitting in 6th place in the league standings, but still just 1 game outside of the final playoff spot. Friday’s game is going to be tough though because they will start Sam Gaviglio. He has been awful this season, posting a record of 0-3 with an ERA of 10.31.
The KT Wiz on the other hand, have now won 2 games in a row and are holding their lead at the top of the KBO. The KT Wiz will start Ko Young-Pyo, who is 8-4 on the season with a much more respectable ERA of 3.73.
This game has blowout written all over it. Gaviglio has clearly struggled all season and Young-Pyo has been good enough to think that the KT Wiz can make it 3 wins in a row. Because of the lopsided pitching matchup, backing the KT Wiz on the run line will be the play here.
Hanwha Eagles vs Kiwoom Heroes – Under 8.5 (-110)
As mentioned, Ryan Carpenter has not been good against the Heroes. Looking closer at his struggles, we see that he is 0-2 with an ERA of 6.17 against them. This is over 2 starts, in which he has allowed 8 runs over 11.2 innings. In both of those starts Carpenter allowed 4 runs; so it could be worse, but it is still not good.
Jeong Chan-Heon, on the other hand, has been excellent against the Eagles. He is 1-0 against them and has an ERA of 1.50. This is over just 1 start, though, where he allowed 2 runs in 6.0 innings. Even though Carpenter has had some struggles against the Heroes, the under still looks to be the better play here. He has been good overall and the Heroes’ offense is not always consistent. For that reason, look for this game to stay under the total.
For those of you looking for bigger payouts, play the best bets as a 3-team parlay which pays out at +550.
