KBO picks and predictions
Wednesday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.
Kiwoom Heroes vs Hanwha Eagles – Under 9.5 runs (-110)
The total should be the better play because of the fact that neither starting pitcher has faced their opponent. An Woo-Jin has allowed 1 run or less in each of his last 5 starts, while Nam Ji-Min is still a new pitcher to the league in general as mentioned before. Both offenses looked sluggish on Tuesday, barely managing to even score 1 run each.
Kiwoom know they need a win here, and with their offense not clicking as of late, they also know this probably needs to be a slugfest. The total just looks a bit too high here, so because we have what looks to be an evenly matched game backing a pitchers’ duel has to be the top play here.
Doosan Bears vs KT Wiz -1.5 (-105)
The KT Wiz beat the Doosan Bears on Tuesday to surge further into the lead for the league. They are now 5 games ahead of the Samsung Lions for the top seed and will be looking for their second straight win here. Their starter for this game will be Odrisamer Despaigne, who has easily been one of their most consistent pitchers. He is 10-8 on the season and has an ERA of 3.13.
The Bears will start Gwak Been, who has really not been that effective this season. He is 3-6 on the year and has an ERA of 4.23. The KT Wiz have a clear advantage on the mound for Wednesday’s game, and Been has struggled against this team. For that reason, backing the Wiz to win comfortably will be the play.
SSG Landers vs Samsung Lions – Under 10 (-105)
Despite Jo Byeong-Hyeon having shown some struggles, the under could be worth a look here. He has only made 1 start this entire season and it was not against Samsung. Having not faced the Lions could give him a small advantage because this Lions’ lineup has not seen his stuff.
David Buchanan has been one of the top pitchers in the league and has some solid numbers against the SSG Landers as well. He is 2-0 against the Landers, and has an ERA of 3.46. This is over the span of 2 starts, where he has allowed 5 runs in 13.0 innings.
Because Buchanan has had success pretty much the entire season and because Byeong-Hyeon is new enough to the KBO that one bad start does not mean that much, backing the under will be the play.
For those of you looking for bigger payouts, play the best bets as a 3-team parlay–which pays out at +644.
