Starting next week, the Kings and Oilers will face each other in the NHL playoffs for the 4th consecutive postseason. The Kings look more poised this year than any of the prior 3 to take down the Oilers and advance to the 2nd round. The Oilers are keen to not let that happen. What seems like all but a formality is that this will be a great series next week when the postseason begins. In the meantime, Los Angeles and Edmonton will look to set the tone in their regular-season series finale on Monday night. This game will be televised on NHL Network and will cap off a nice 6-game slate. Let’s get into tonight’s Kings vs Oilers Same Game Parlay picks at +600 odds, while you can also get our expert NHL picks for Monday’s matchups.

LA Kings ML over Edmonton Oilers (-110)

The Kings have been playing great hockey lately and are in great form. That aside, a primary reason for the appeal to take Los Angeles on Monday is the injuries sustained on Edmonton’s roster. The Oilers have 9 regular starting players that are either on the Injured Reserve or are day-to-day with some kind of injury or ailment. They are piecemealing a roster together that not only is not very deep but will be exhausted. The Oilers will be playing this game as the second night of a road back-to-back. Their opponent on Sunday was the Jets. Things will not get any easier against a second playoff team in as many nights.

In addition to a favorable matchup against a shadow of last year’s Oilers team, the Kings are rolling right now. They enter this game having won 6 of their last 7 games. Included in that stretch were wins against stellar Winnipeg and Colorado teams, as well as Edmonton. The Kings’ goal differential in that 7-game span is +20, which is an average goal differential 0f +2.86 goals. That even includes a loss mixed in that stretch. Lately, the Kings are bullying both good and bad teams, and both at home and on the road. The Oilers should have their work cut out for them in this one.

Over 5.5 (-110)

The recent form of both the Kings and Oilers gives the Over appeal. With a total of just 5.5, there is enough star power between familiar teams to like the Over more than the Under in this one. The Kings have averaged 8 goals in their last 2 games. In the Oilers’ last 3 games, the Over hit twice in games that featured 6 and 7 goals. Strong goal scoring, as opposed to weak goal prevention, has been a primary reason for higher totals for both Los Angeles and Edmonton lately. Positive offensive trends colliding head-to-head should bode well for over 5.5 goals.

The Kings have scored 30 goals in their last 7 games for an average of 4.29 goals scored per game during that span. The Oilers have been hit and miss lately, but have scored 4 goals in each of their last 3 games. If recent performances on both sides hold true on Monday night, there will not be much work remaining for this game to get over the total. The aforementioned injuries and fatigue to this Oilers team has a chance to lead to more sloppy play from Edmonton, which could therefore lead to goals.

Adrian Kempe anytime goalscorer (+205)

This is a very balanced Kings team. They don’t have a single point-per-game player, but they have depth. Los Angeles has 5 players with 20+ goals and another 2 players with 18. The Oilers, star-powered as they are, have 4 players with 20+ goals scored. The Kings get it done by committee, and one key member of such committee is Adrian Kempe. His game isn’t very flashy, but Kempe has scored 40+ goals in the NHL before and leads the Kings this season with 68 points with his 33 goals being second on the team. In a game where the Kings look to have more depth, Kempe should get a favorable matchup and he has as good of a chance as anyone on his team to score.

In the last 3 postseasons, Kempe has tallied 19 points in 18 games played. When the games matter, Kempe has stepped up. Although this is a regular-season game after the playoff matchup has already been set, this is a game that matters as both have a chance to feel out the opposition. Kempe is on the Kings’ top line and top power play so every shift he is sharing the ice with talented teammates. If the Kings can replicate recent offensive success, there is a good chance that Kempe will have been part of it.
