KBO picks and predictions
Wednesday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.
KT Wiz ML over SSG Landers (+112)
The KT Wiz lost to the SSG Landers on Tuesday morning by a score of 4-2. They are now 71-58-2 on the season and are still in 4th place in the league standings. The KT Wiz will start Wes Benjamin, who is 3-4 on the season and has an ERA of 2.75. In 13 starts this season, he has allowed 22 earned runs over 72.0 innings.
With the win on Tuesday morning, the SSG Landers are now 83-45-4 on the season and maintain their 3.5 games lead at the top of the league standings. They will counter with Oh Won-Seok on Thursday morning, who is 6-8 on the season and has an ERA of 4.40. In 26 appearances this season (23 starts), he has allowed 64 earned runs over 131.0 innings.
The SSG Landers are the best team in the league, but Benjamin has been a much more consistent pitcher recently compared to Won-Seok. For that reason, backing the KT Wiz will be the play.
LG Twins vs Kia Tigers – Under 8.5 runs (-128)
The total looks to be the better play here because of the form shown by both starting pitchers. Kim Yun-Sik has allowed 2 runs (1 earned) over 17.0 innings in his last 3 starts. In his only start against the Tigers this season, he allowed just 1 earned run over 8.0 innings.
On the other side, Thomas Pannone has allowed just 1 earned run over 21.0 innings in his last 3 starts. In his only start against the Twins this season, he allowed 4 earned runs over 4.1 innings. Even though Pannone struggled with the Twins, this was also his first start of the season and he has been dominant since then. That and the fact that Yun-Sik is also in great form, makes backing the under worth a play on Wednesday morning.
NC Dinos ML over Doosan Bears (-152)
The NC Dinos lost to the Doosan Bears on Tuesday morning by a score of 8-2. They are now 58-67-3 on the season and are still in 6th place in the league standings. The Dinos will start Song Myung-Gi, who is 3-7 on the season and has an ERA of 4.74. In 20 starts this season, he has allowed 50 earned runs over 95.0 innings.
With the win on Tuesday, the Doosan Bears are now 54-72-2 on the season and are in 9th place in the league standings. The Bears will counter with Choi Won-Joon, who is 8-10 on the season and has an ERA of 3.66. In 26 starts this season, he has allowed 57 earned runs over 140.0 innings.
Won-Joon has been serviceable this season, while Myung-Gi has mainly been below average for majority of the season. However, Myung-Gi has been more consistent recently, therefore backing the Dinos on the run line looks to be worth a play.
