KBO picks and predictions

Thursday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Kiwoom Heroes vs SSG Landers ML (-270)

The Kiwoom Heroes lost to the SSG Landers on Wednesday by a score of 5-1. The Heroes are now tied for 2nd place and will be looking to end their losing streak right away. Kiwoom will start Tyler Eppler in this spot, who is 1-0 on the season and has an ERA of 3.31. He has allowed 6 earned runs this season over 16.1 innings. His most recent start was his best of the year so far, allowing just 1 earned run in 6.0 innings against the Doosan Bears.

The SSG Landers lost just their 2nd game of the season the other day, but immediately bounced back with a win to hold the top spot in the league. With every game that passes, this looks like a team that has a real shot of winning the championship this year. The SSG Landers will counter with Kim Kwang-Hyun. He is 2-0 through 2 starts, but more impressively, he has not allowed an earned run in 13.0 innings. He also has allowed just 5 total hits this season, making it that much tougher for the Heroes’ offense.

Eppler and the Heroes have not been a bad team this season, but the SSG Landers are too good right now to fade. Kwang-Hyun has the advantage in this matchup as well, so backing the SSG Landers to continue winning will be the play.

Doosan Bears ML (-130) vs Kia Tigers

The Doosan Bears picked up a win on Wednesday morning, beating the Kia Tigers 4-3. The Bears now move into 4th place and will be looking for their 2nd consecutive win on Thursday. They will start Choi Won-Joon, who has had a solid start to the season. His record is 1-2, but his ERA is 2.50. Won-Joon has allowed just 5 earned runs over 18.0 innings and has been unlucky in not getting a ton of run support.

With the loss on Wednesday, the Kia Tigers fell to 7-8 on the season and sit in 6th place. They will counter with Sean Nolin, who has struggled to start the year. He is 0-2 on the season and has an ERA of 6.14. Over his 2 starts, he has allowed 5 earned runs in 7.1 innings.

Nolin’s struggles are only over a small sample size, but they are still a concern and one that is likely to play a role. Won-Joon has been much better, so backing the Bears will still be the play here.

Hanwha Eagles vs Lotte Giants – Under 7.5 Runs (+104)

The total looks to be the better play here based on the pitching matchup in this game. Yun Dae-Kyung was excellent against the Twins in his last start and now faces a Giants’ offense that is averaging 3.7 runs per game. The Eagles are averaging 3.6 runs per game, so Kim Jin-Uk should be able to keep them from scoring a ton. Because both starters have shown flashes of brilliance so far this season, backing the under will be the play.

Looking for a bigger payout? Play the best bets as a 3-team parlay — which pays out at +394.
