KBO picks and predictions
Thursday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.
Doosan Bears vs Hanwha Eagles – Under 9.5 runs (-118)
The total looks to be the better play for Thursday based on the recent form of both pitchers. In his last 6 appearances (5 starts), Jang Min-Je has allowed 8 runs (7 earned) over 27.0 innings. He has yet to face the Bears this season, so he should have a small advantage in that regard as well.
On the other side, Choi Seung-Yong has mainly been a reliever this season so his numbers are a little skewed. In 4 appearances against the Eagles in 2022 (2 starts), he has given up 5 earned runs over 10.0 innings. However, his most recent start against the Eagles resulted in 4.1 innings of shutout baseball. Neither offense has been consistent this season, so backing the under looks to be worth a play on Thursday morning.
Samsung Lions vs Lotte Giants – Over 8.5 runs (-120)
The total looks to be the better play here based on the recent form of both starters. In his last 5 starts Won Tae-In has given up 11 runs (10 earned) over 29.2 innings. Overall, he has allowed at least 4 runs or more in 6 starts this season.
On the other side, Park Se-Woong has surrendered 4 or more runs in 7 starts this season. In his last 5 starts he has surrendred 15 runs (14 earned) over 27.2 innings. In his only start against the Lions he allowed 5 earned runs over 5.1 innings. Both offenses were lacking production on Wednesday, but with both starters having struggled recently and with Se-Woong having struggled against the Lions already this season, backing the over will be the play.
Kiwoom Heroes vs NC Dinos – Over 8.5 runs (-122)
The total looks to be the better play based on the fact that both starters have a below-average ERA. Tyler Eppler has allowed 4 or more runs in just 4 starts. However, in his last 3 appearances (2 starts) he has given up 8 runs (7 earned) over 13.1 innings.
On the other side, Song Myung-Gi has yielded 4 or more runs in 8 starts. In his last 5 starts he has surrendered 21 runs (12 earned) over 23.2 innings. In 4 starts against the Heroes he has allowed 19 runs (15 earned) over 16.2 innings. The Dinos played in a very low scoring game on Wednesday, but with a much worse pitcher on Thursday — especially one who has been terrible against the Heroes — backing the over looks to be well worth a play.

Extra KBO picks and predictions for Thursday, August 25
Kia Tigers vs LG Twins – Over 9.5 runs (-102)
Both the Kia Tigers and LG Twins will be featuring pitchers on Thursday who have struggled all season. Lee Eui-Lee has an ERA of 4.15 for the Tigers and Kim Yun-Sik has an ERA of 4.75 for the Twins. Eui-Lee allowed 5 or more runs in 2 of his last 3 starts, while Yun-Sik has allowed 17 earned runs over his last 5 starts. For that reason, backing the over looks to be worth a play on Thursday.
SSG Landers ML (+108) over KT Wiz
The SSG Landers will start Oh Won-Seok, who has an ERA of 4.53. Despite his overall struggles, he is 2-0 against the KT Wiz this season and has an ERA of 1.00 against them. For that reason, backing the SSG Landers looks to be worth a play.
