KBO picks and predictions
Thursday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.
Kia Tigers vs NC Dinos ML (-126)
The Kia Tigers ended up losing to the NC Dinos on Wednesday, losing to them by a score of 7-2. The Tigers are now 32-28-1 on the season and have lost 2 games in a row. They are currently 4th place in the league standings. Looking to bounce back on Thursday, the Tigers will start Lee Eui-Lee — who is 3-4 on the season and has an ERA of 3.88. In 12 starts this year he has allowed 28 earned runs over 65.0 innings.
With the win on Wednesday, the NC Dinos are now 24-37-1. Even with this win, the Dinos find themselves in 9th place are they are still having a dreadful season. Thursday’s matchup looks to be favorable for the Dinos as they will be starting Koo Chang-Mo, who is 3-0 on the season and has an ERA of 0.52. In just 3 starts he has allowed 1 earned run over 17.1 innings.
Even though the Dinos have not been good in 2022, Chang-Mo gives them a fantastic chance to win this game on Thursday. He has allowed next to nothing this season, so backing the Dinos to win will be the play.
Samsung Lions vs LG Twins ML (-205)
The Samsung Lions were able to beat the LG Twins on Wednesday, winning by a score of 6-3. The win moves them to 30-32 and they are now in 6th place in the league standings. The Lions will start Baek Jung-Hyun, who is 0-5 on the season and has an ERA of 6.80. In 9 starts he has allowed 37 earned runs over 49.0 innings.
With the loss on Wednesday, the LG Twins are now 35-27-1 on the season. They remain in 3rd place in the league standings. The Twins will counter with Casey Kelly, who is 7-1 and has an ERA of 2.57. In 11 starts he has allowed 19 earned runs over 66.2 innings.
The Twins have a clear advantage on the mound as Kelly has been one of the more dominant pitchers in the KBO this season. For that reason, backing the Twins will be the play.
Doosan Bears vs Kiwoom Heroes – Over 8.5 runs (-122)
The total looks to be the better play here based on the recent form of both starting pitchers. Gwak Been has allowed at least 5 runs in 3 of his last 4 starts, several of which were unearned runs due to poor defense. Overall, he does have 8 starts in which he has allowed 2 runs or less, but the Bears also do not have the greatest bullpen, so runs could also come in the later innings if Been is able to put together a better outing.
On the other side, Choi Won-Tae has also struggled recently — allowing at least 3 runs in his last 4 starts, also being charged with a few unearned runs due to poor defense. He has 6 starts in which he has allowed 2 runs or less, but as mentioned, his recent starts could allow the Bears to take advantage. Won-Tae has 2 starts against the Bears this season, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) over 8.2 innings. But with both offenses ranking top 5 in total runs, backing the over still looks to be worth a play.

Extra KBO picks and predictions for Thursday, June 16
SSG Landers vs KT Wiz ML (+100)
Both starters in this matchup have been somewhat inconsistent this season, however; Bae Je-Seong has been a little better as of late. He has allowed 6 earned runs over his last 3 starts (18.0 innings), while Oh Won-Seok has allowed 11 earned runs over his last 3 starts (17.0 innings) for the SSG Landers. For that reason, backing the KT Wiz looks to be worth a small play.
Lotte Giants ML (-136) vs Hanwha Eagles
This is not exactly an ideal matchup for either side as both starters have an ERA north of 4.80. Glenn Sparkman for the Giants, however, has not faced the Eagles — whereas Jang Min-Je has an ERA of 5.40 against the Giants. For that reason, backing the Giants may be worth a small play.
