KBO picks and predictions
Sunday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.
Kia Tigers ML over Hanwha Eagles (-205)
The Kia Tigers lost to the SSG Landers 3-2 on Saturday morning. They are now 66-71-1 on the season and remain in 5th place in the league standings. The Tigers will start Sean Nolin, who is 6-8 and has an ERA of 2.73. In 19 starts Nolin has allowed 34 earned runs over 112.0 innings.
The Hanwha Eagles did not play on Saturday morning, so they are still 44-94-2 and remain in last place in the league standings. The Eagles will counter with Park Jun-Yeong, who has not recorded a decision and has an ERA of 6.75. In 3 relief appearances he has allowed 3 earned runs over 4.0 innings.
Nolin has been one of the better pitchers this season for the Tigers, so backing them to win will be the play.
NC Dinos vs LG Twins – Under 8.5 runs (-118)
The total could be the better play here, even though this is the KBO season debut for Kim Young-Jun. He may have an advantage considering no one has seen him pitch this season. There is also the fact that the Dinos’ offense is coming off a couple games in which they did not do much offensively.
On the other side, Kim Tae-Gyeong has not allowed more than 4 runs in any appearance this season. In his 5 starts he has surrendered 5 earned runs over 21.2 innings. In his only start against the Twins this season he did not give up an earned run over 5.0 innings.
Because Tae-Gyeong has been solid recent and against the Twins and Young-Jun is an unknown, backing the under will be the play.
Doosan Bears vs Lotte Giants – Over 9.5 runs (-102)
The total looks to be the better play here based on some of the recent starts for both starters. Choi Won-Joon has yielded 9 earned runs in his last 3 starts over 14.1 innings. In 4 starts against the Giants he has given up d 14 runs (9 earned) over 23.1 innings.
On the other side, Park Se-Woong has allowed 11 earned runs in his last 3 starts over 10.0 innings. In 2 starts against the Bears this season he has surrendered 9 runs (7 earned) over 13.0 innings. Because both starters have struggled recently and have also had some issues when facing each other, backing the over will be the play.
