KBO picks and predictions
Saturday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.
Hanwha Eagles Alternate RL +3 over LG Twins (-140)
The Hanwha Eagles lost to the SSG Landers 5-4 on Friday morning. They are now 43-89-2 on the season and continue to sit in last place in the league standings. The Eagles will start Jang Min-Je, who is 6-8 and has an ERA of 3.68. In 30 appearances (23 starts) he has allowed 47 earned runs over 115.0 innings.
The LG Twins beat the Lotte Giants 1-0 on Friday morning. They are now 80-48-2 and remain in 2nd place in the league standings. The Twins will counter with Casey Kelly, who is 15-3 and has an ERA of 2.56. In 25 starts he has allowed 44 earned runs over 154.2 innings.
Hanwha might be the worst team in the league, but Min-Je has been solid enough o give his team a chance. He has been dominant against the Twins, while Kelly has struggled against the Eagles. For that reason, backing the Eagles on the run line will be the play.
Kiwoom Heroes ML over Lotte Giants (-145)
The Lotte Giants lost to the Kiwoom Heroes 1-0 on Friday morning. They are now 61-72-4 in 2022 and are still in 7th place in the league standings. The Giants will start Park Se-Woong, who is 9-10 and has an ERA of 3.85. In 26 starts he has allowed 64 earned runs over 149.2 innings.
The Kiwoom Heroes beat the Doosan Bears 5-1 on Friday morning. They are now 77-59-2 this year and remain in 3rd place in the league standings. The Heroes will counter with An Woo-Jin, who is 13-8 and has an ERA of 2.24. In 27 starts he has allowed 44 earned runs over 177.0 innings.
Both starters have been solid this season, but Woo-Jin has been more consistent recently. For that reason, backing the Heroes will be the play.
Doosan Bears vs SSG Landers – Under 9 runs (-105)
The total looks to be the better play because both starters have been very consistent this season for the most part. Robert Stock has allowed 4 or more runs in 9 starts this season. In his last 4 outings he has allowed 13 runs (12 earned) over 19.1 innings. While those numbers could be seen as concerning, he has been dominant against the SSG Landers this season. In 3 starts against them he has allowed just 1 earned run over 15.0 innings.
On the other side, Lee Tae-Yang has allowed 4 or more runs in 5 starts. In his last 6 appearances (1 start) he has allowed 2 earned runs over 11.2 innings. In his only relief effort against the Bears he allowed 1 earned run over 1.0 inning.
Because Stock has been dominant against the SSG Landers and Tae-Yang has been solid over this limited work recently, backing the under looks to be worth a play.
