KBO picks and predictions
Saturday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.
KT Wiz ML (-174) over Hanwha Eagles
The KT Wiz picked up another win on Friday, beating the Hanwha Eagles 5-1. They are now 51-42-2 on the season, currently still sitting in 4th place. On Saturday they will start So Hyeong-Jun, who is 11-2 and has an ERA of 2.75. In 18 starts he has allowed 36 earned runs over 118.0 innings.
With the loss on Friday the Eagles are now 30-65-2 and remain in last place. They will counter with Felix Pena, who is 1-2 and has an ERA of 4.18. In 5 starts he has allowed 11 earned runs over 23.2 innings.
Fading the Eagles continues to be a decent play almost every time they take the field and that is especially true for Saturday as well. The KT Wiz have a huge advantage on the mound, therefore backing them to win will be the play.
Doosan Bears ML (-146) over Kia Tigers
The Doosan Bears ended up with a win on Friday, beating the Kia Tigers 5-3. They are now 42-50-2 this year and are still in 6th place in the league standings. They will start Robert Stock, who is 8-6 on the season and has an ERA of 2.98. In 20 starts he has allowed 39 earned runs over 117.2 innings.
With the loss on Friday the Tigers are now 48-47-1. They have lost 2 games in a row, but are still in 5th place in the league standings. The Tigers will counter with Im Gi-Yeong, who is 2-8 and has an ERA of 4.20. In 15 starts he has allowed 40 earned runs over 85.2 innings.
The Tigers are clearly in a slump right now and Saturday does not look to be the time to change that. Stock has been far better this season than Gi-Yeong, so backing the Bears will be the play.
Kiwoom Heroes vs LG Twins – Over 8.5 runs (-106)
Based on the fact that both starters have had rough 2022 campaigns, the over might be worth a look for Saturday morning. Han Hyun-Hee has allowed 4 or more runs in just 3 starts but has allowed 12 earned runs in his last 5 appearances over 22.0 innings.
On the other side, Lee Min-Ho has allowed 4 or more runs in 7 starts, including each of his last 2 starts. In those 2 starts he allowed 15 earned runs over 7.0 innings. Friday’s game saw a ton of offense and that should carry over to Saturday with 2 less than stellar pitchers taking the mound. That and the fact that neither bullpen has been performing well makes the over worth a play.

Bonus KBO picks and predictions for Saturday, August 6
NC Dinos vs Lotte Giants – Under 8.5 runs (-112)
The NC Dinos and Lotte Giants played to an over on Friday, but much less runs should be expected on Saturday. The Dinos will start Drew Rucinski, who has an ERA of 2.64. The Giants will start Choi Yeong-Hwan, but regardless the Dinos’ offense is one of the worst in the KBO, therefore backing the under will be the play.
SSG Landers ML (-166) over Samsung Lions
The SSG Landers were upset on Friday by the Samsung Lions, but look to be in a much better spot for Saturday’s game. They will start Park Jong-Hun, who will be making his KBO debut. The Lions will counter with Heo Yun-Dong, who has an ERA of 5.66. Even though Jong-Hun is making his debut, backing the SSG Landers will be the play because of the struggles from Yun-Dong.
