Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!
I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My NBA record from last season and this season are listed in my bio alongside my MLB record. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Thursday.
Evan Mobley (CLE) over 27.5 points + rebounds + assists (-115)
Line available at BetMGM Sports at time of publishing. Playable for a unit at 28.5 PRA
Evan Mobley is the favorite to win NBA Rookie of the Year. The USC product averages 15.2 points per game to go along with 8.3 rebounds. Mobley is a big reason the Cleveland Cavaliers will be playing playoff basketball for the first time since LeBron James left town.
Mobley has excelled in the absence of all-star center Jarrett Allen. In 12 games without the big man, Mobley averages 17.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. Regarding the 27.5 line, he is over this line in 8 of 12 games — including a 41 PRA game against his opponent tonight, the Toronto Raptors. Allen left that game early after only playing 10 minutes. The Raptors will do all they can to get the ball out of Darius Garland’s hands. They double-teamed every ball screen last time they played, leaving Mobley and others wide open on the perimeter and underneath the basket.
Khem Birch will most likely be starting at the 5 for the Raptors, which will give Mobley plenty of opportunities to fill up the stat sheet with rebounds. The last 5 centers to start against the Raptors are averaging 12.5 rebounds per game.
All we need is Mobley to stay out of foul trouble, and we should cash this with ease!
