JutPicks' best NBA player prop for Thursday: Fading the triple-double king

Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!

I pride myself in being as transparent as they come. My NBA record from last season and this season are listed in my bio alongside with my MLB record. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Thursday.

Russell Westbrook (Lakers) under 35.5 points + rebounds + assists (-115)

First off, I expect LeBron James to play tonight. The Lakers travel to Charlotte tomorrow to take on the Hornets and that would be a spot where they would let LeBron sit out.

Tonight L.A. takes on the 76ers in primetime. Both teams have had plenty of headlines surround them this season. The Sixers continue to play without Ben Simmons and the Lakers are on the brink of firing head coach Frank Vogel. The Lakers will have Anthony Davis back in the lineup to try his best to contain MVP candidate Joel Embiid.

With all that being said, I am targeting the under on Russell Westbrook. He continues to have his worst season as a pro since his early Oklahoma City days. He is averaging 34.2 points, rebounds, and assists compared to 45.4 last season with the Wizards. Taking a backseat to a ball-dominant LeBron has really hurt his game. His usage is down to 27.7% — his lowest since 2010.

The 76ers feature a stifling defense. They allow the fewest amount of points to the point-guard position and rank in the top half of the league in defensive efficiency.

Westbrook has been under this line in 8 of his last 10 games and simply does not get the usage to hit this high total that he was smashing in year’s past. We ride the under!
