Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!
I pride myself in being as transparent as they come. My NBA record from last season and this season are listed in my bio alongside with my MLB record. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Thursday.
Kyle Lowry (Heat) under 25.5 points + rebounds + assists (-115)
Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable for .5 unit at 24.5
This may seem like an uneasy fade going against the fast-paced Hornets, but with Jimmy Butler on track to play tonight, it is a good spot to back the under on the veteran point-guard.
Lowry is averaging 25.4 points, rebounds, and assists on the season so this line is right on his season average. With Butler in the lineup, he sees his usage rate drop 5% and his points, rebounds, and assists take a significant toll. In the 18 games without Butler, Lowry is averaging 28 points, rebounds, and assists compared to 23.4 in the 27 games the two have played together.
In the two games versus the Charlotte Hornets this season, Lowry only averaged 16 points, rebounds, and assists with Butler on the floor for both games. The Hornets surprisingly allow the 6th fewest points and 3rd fewest rebounds to the point-guard position.
I expect the number 2 seed Miami Heat to control this game from the tip and heavily involve Bam Adebayo who will have his way against the Hornets frontcourt.
