Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!
I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season is listed in my bio. On the year, I recorded 150 wins and 107 losses for a gain of +31 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite plays for Saturday.
German Marquez (COL) under 4.5 Ks (-132)
Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Marquez, in Coors, against the Kansas City Royals, has disaster written all over it.
German Marquez is having a tough start to the 2022 season. He made his 1st All-Star appearance last season and has answered that with a 6.4 ERA and a record of 0-3 in 2022.
In his last start, Marquez stuck out a season-high 7 batters but allowed 4 earned runs and walked 4 batters against the terrible Arizona Diamondbacks offense. The Kansas City Royals, who Marquez will be facing tonight, are simply not the same. The Royals strike out at the 5th least rate against right-handed pitching and see the 3rd least amount of pitches per at bat.
Even though the Rockies need their ace to give them a quality start after teammate Kyle Freeland only lasted 4.2 innings, I do not expect the Royals to chase a ton of pitches and make Marquez work to get out of jams.

Ranger Suarez (PHI) over 3.5 Ks (-104)
Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
We’re getting a steal at the price. To put it into perspective, this line is at -150 on DraftKings.
The Philadelphia Phillies desperately need a quality starter from Suarez tonight. Starter Kyle Gibson got rocked last night and only lasted 3.2 innings. Both games of the series have been high-scoring and the Phillies bullpen is gassed.
This number is simply to low for Suarez. He’s coming off his best start of the season in Seattle where he struck out 7 batters across 6 scoreless innings.

Chicago Cubs team total under 1.5 1st 5 innings runs (-110)
Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Like my Josiah Gray play yesterday, this seems to be a DraftKings exclusive. You can find a similar pviot to this on BetMGM. Listed under “player props” select “earned runs” and you can find Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zac Gallen under 1.5 earned runs at +125.
Zac Gallen has been a stud to start the season. The 26- year-old has an ERA below 1 in 5 starts this season. More importantly, Gallen has held every opponent under 2 runs in the 1st 5 innings this season.
The Chicago Cubs offense has hit a wall in the month of May. They’re hitting .195 against right-handed pitching and an on-base-percentage of .250, both bottom 5 in the majors during that time.
I prefer this team total bet over the earned run special on BetMGM primarily because Gallen has the ability to go deep into this game and potentially let up some runs late.
