Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!
I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season is listed in my bio. On the year, I recorded 150 wins and 107 losses for a gain of +31 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite plays for Monday.

Jameson Taillon (NYY) under 4.5 Ks (-125)
Line available at Caesars Sportsbook at time of publishing.
The Toronto Blue Jays are excited to be back in Yankee Stadium today. The Blue Jays were 7-2 against the New York Yankees on the road last season and averaged 5.4 runs per game.
Let’s shift our focus to 30-year old Jameson Taillon. In 3 starts against the Blue Jays last season, Taillon pitched 13.0 innings and struck out 10 batters. Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is 3-for-7 against Taillon with 0 strikeouts, and this loaded Toronto offense can put up runs in a hurry.
Taillon’s strikeout numbers are better at home, but I expect him to struggle today in his first start of the regular season.

Aaron Civale (CLE) under 3.5 Ks (+108)
Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Aaron Civale faces a Kansas City Royals team that may not be hitting righties well to start the season, with a batting average of .193, but they are working counts and avoiding strikeouts. In 95 plate appearances against right-handed pitchers this season, the Royals have only struck out 14 times for a strikeout rate of 14% — 3rd-lowest in the majors.
Civale pitched in Kauffman Stadium twice last season and only struck out 5 batters in 11.0 innings. The top of the order for Kansas City will get on Civale early. Leadoff hitter Whit Merrifield has never struck out against Civale in 9 plate appearances, and standout rookie Bobby Whit Jr has a great eye.
I expect the Royals to finally unleash their offense with power hitters Salvador Perez and Carlos Santana against the 26-year old.
