Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!

I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season is listed in my bio. On the year, I recorded 150 wins and 107 losses for a gain of +31 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite plays for Friday.

Logan Gilbert (SEA) over 16.5 outs (-140)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Logan Gilbert is off to a fantastic start in 2022. He boasts a league-low 0.64 ERA and is tied for the league lead in wins with 4. The 25 year-old is already getting AL CY Young consideration with his blazing start.

Tonight at home he faces off against the Tampa Bay Rays, against whom he pitched 5.2 scoreless innings against earlier this season. Tampa does have some lethal bats in their lineup but, they rank middle of the pack in average and on base percentage plus slugging. Oakland Athletics’ pitcher, Frankie Montas, pitched 7.0 scoreless innings against the Rays back on Wednesday. I expect to see a similar performance from Gilbert tonight.

Gilbert has gone over this line in 3 straight starts and has topped 100+ pitches in his last 2.

Chad Kuhl (COL) under 4.5 Ks (-136)

Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

We love sweating out under/ here and this is no different. Chad Kuhl, a reliever last season, has finally found a starting spot for the Colorado Rockies and is pitching well. He is 3-0 with an ERA below 2. Even with his phenomenal start, Kuhl has failed to record to eclipse 5 strikeouts in 3 of his 4 starts this season — including in his last 3 overall.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are a hot happy team especially against right-handed pitching, but this number is a strikeout too high for Kuhl — who has yet to throw more than 90 pitches this season. In 23.2 innings pitched he has struck out 17 batters and issued 7 walks.

I feel confident that even if Kuhl pitches into the 6th inning, we still have a winner here.
