Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!
I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season is listed in my bio. On the year, I recorded 150 wins and 107 losses for a gain of +31 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Saturday.
Kyle Gibson (PHI) Under 4.5 Ks (-110)
Line available at DraftKings SportsBook at time of publishing.
The New York Mets’ bats are scorching hot. They are hitting .269 against right-handed pitchers and carry a 20% strikeout rate — the 2nd-lowest in baseball.
Gibson has finally returned to Earth in terms of strikeout numbers following his 2nd start for the Philadelphia Phillies. He recorded 10 and 6 strikeouts in his first 2 starts and then 3 and 4 in back-to-back outings against the Colorado Rockies. Gibson is known for his ground-ball outs. He ranks in the top 10 percentile in terms of ground-ball percentage and that’s where he should see most of his production tonight in New York.
It took a while for the Mets to get to Aaron Nola last night but expect Gibson to get hit hard early and often.
