Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!
I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season is listed in my bio. On the year, I recorded 150 wins and 107 losses for a gain of +31 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Saturday.
Kyle Gibson (PHI) under 5.5 Ks (-104)
Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Veteran, Kyle Gibson, returned back to life in terms of strikeout numbers in his last start against the Colorado Rockies. He pitched 6 innings and recorded 3 strikeouts. We do not get the Coors Field effect tonight but this number is a strikeout too high.
In 5 career home games as a member of the Phillies, Gibson is over this line in 3 of them. Gibson obviously does not get the pitcher spot this season so that boards well for us.
The Rockies currently have the 5th-highest strikeout rate to righties on the road but that number is skewed. They have seen the 2nd-fewest amount of plate appearances. Detroit Tigers pitcher Tyler Skubal pitched a gem against the Rockies last week as he went 6 innings and 6 strikeouts. Gibson does tend to go late into games, but I believe we see a similar performance in terms of strikeouts from Gibson tonight at Citizens Bank Park.
