The 2023 NFL Draft will be held from April 27-29 in Kansas City, and offers plenty of wagering opportunities. The position battles are extremely intriguing, potentially going in any number of directions near the top of the draft.

But before names start getting called, we have a ton of draft content coming to get you primed. Here we’ll be focusing on draft props surrounding the wide receiver position, specifically where Jaxon Smith-Njigba will land. The former Ohio State wide receiver is expected to be a first round pick, but where will he end up and will he be the first wideout taken?

We’ll start by taking a look at the odds, courtesy of DraftKings, before diving into the best bet:

Jaxon Smith-Njigba 2023 NFL Draft odds

Despite missing most of the 2022 season due to injury, Smith-Njigba is still a tremendous prospect at the next level. He burst onto the scene at Ohio State, as he led the Buckeyes in receiving during the 2021 season as an underclassman with 2022 first-round picks Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson also in the receiver room. Smith-Njigba is an excellent route runner with great ball skills, so it’s no surprise that he’s going to be a first round pick. Here are the odds for some of Smith-Njigba’s draft props in Kansas City, courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

First Wide Receiver Drafted: -300

Draft Position: Over 12.5 (-340), Under 12.5 (+260)

Jaxon Smith-Njigba 2023 NFL Draft best bet: Over 12.5 (-340)

It’s never fun to lay a ton of juice on a prop, but this line is being priced heavily for a reason. Wide receivers have been a proven commodity over the past 5 years in the NFL Draft, so a handful of General Managers should be looking to draft a receiver in the first round. However, this year’s draft is one that should be dominated at the top of the draft by quarterbacks, offensive lineman, edge rushers and defensive backs.

Given that the wideouts are expected to go in the middle to later portion of the first round on Thursday, I couldn’t recommend laying -300 on Smith-Njigba to be the first receiver selected. It’s entirely conceivable that Jordan Addison would be drafted before Smith-Njigba by a team like Seattle that could use a younger wideout. But regardless of what team he ends up on — the Ravens, Giants and Bills are all candidates — I can’t see Smith-Njigba going inside the top 15, much less the top 12 picks.
