The final Sunday in the NHL’s 2024-25 regular season treats fans to a nice 9-game slate. The action on Sunday includes a few heavyweight bouts, as well as games with playoff seeding implications. On a great sports day, the hockey should deliver. The slate begins at 1PM ET in a game between the Islanders and Devils on TNT, TruTV, and MAX. As the Devils prepare for their postseason face off, they are in need of a bit of a slump buster. They’ll bring a good effort in what should be an entertaining nationally televised game.

If you will be watching and want to have a vested interest, here is a same game parlay we have our eyes on. Let’s dive in, and don’t forget you can also get our expert NHL picks for the games on Sunday.

Devils -1.5 (+130)

One of the primary factors in the Devils’ favor on Sunday is their opponent. The Islanders have been spiraling for 3 weeks, and now are firmly in the ‘let’s get to the offseason’ mode. They have lost 9 out of their last 11 games with an average loss by 2.33 goals over that stretch. The Islanders are currently riding a 3-game losing streak in which they have been outscored 20-11 by 3 non-playoff teams, the Predators, Rangers, and Flyers. This has as much or more to do with the Islanders’ poor form than any appeal to the Devils as a whole.

The Devils have looked good in the last couple weeks in general. Considering a bit of a banged up roster, they have won 4 out of their last 7. That should be well-enough form as is to take care of business against this version of the Islanders. New Jersey is the better team and also have a bit of added incentive to win convincingly as the postseason nears. The Devils have dropped 2 straight entering this game, and the last thing they want is to limp into the playoffs. Look for New Jersey to come out with some urgency and get a statement win against a struggling team.

Over 5.5 (-130)

Sloppy play and weak goal prevention have led to high totals for both teams lately. The over has hit in 11 out of the Islanders’ last 14 games, as well as in their last 5 played on the road. Head to head, the over has hit in 4 out of the last 5 in general including 2 this year, and in 4 out of the last 5 played in New Jersey at the Prudential Center. In their respective last 10 games played, Islanders road games combined with Devils home games have an over under record of 7-3-1.

The overs trends look unlikely to reverse tomorrow given the recent form and vulnerabilities shown by each team. As mentioned, the Islanders have allowed 20 goals in their last 3 games. If they hold anywhere near that average of goals allowed per game, this game will have a great chance of going over the total. Things were not much better prior to those games as they also allowed 4+ goals in 6 out of their prior 8 games. The Devils have allowed 11 goals themselves in their last 2 games. These teams are not playing clean hockey right now and one of the results have been high totals. Sunday should bring more of the same.

Jesper Bratt anytime goalscorer (+225)

In a game which the Devils look to break out of a slump against a familiar, spiraling opponent, they will likely lean on their superstars to get them over the hump. New Jersey’s top line of Jesper Bratt, Nico Hischier, and Stefan Noesen have done their part in keeping the team afloat without key superstars in the lineup. Bratt leads the team with 88 points in 79 games played, including a goal and 2 assists in 2 games against the Islanders this year. He has as good of a chance as anyone to produce in this game.

The Islanders were officially eliminated from postseason contention on Saturday. It would not be remotely surprising if they come out hapless on Sunday, yet again. That leaves a favorable spot for top players on the Devils to produce. Being the team leader in points, holding a spot on the top line and top power play, and consistently playing with great players in good form, Jesper Bratt is worth the play for an anytime goalscorer prop.
