Different odds formats explained

American odds
American odds are determined using a plus/minus format. In a two-way market, you see a plus (+) sign next to the odds of the underdog and a minus (-) sign next to the odds of the favorite. If a team has minus odds, such as -140, that number represents how much you would need to wager to win $100. So in that case, you would need to bet $140 to win $100, $70 to win $50 and so on. If a team has plus odds, such as +120, that number represents how much you would win from a $100 bet. So in that case, you would need to bet $100 to win $120, $50 to win $60 and so on.

Fractional odds
Fractional odds are typically used for horse racing, golf and futures markets in the United States. They are determined by the amount you would win divided by the amount you are wagering. The numerator (amount you would win) is listed first, while the denominator (what you are wagering) is second. With 2-1 odds, you would win $2 (numerator) from a $1 bet (denominator), win $4 from a $2 bet, and so on.

Decimal odds
Decimal odds represent the same as fractional and American but are just formatted differently. The number simply tells you how much you would win for every $1 you wager, and from there you would multiply the number based on how much you bet. For example, if something has 2.15 odds, that means you would win $2.15 for every $1 that you wager.
