There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Wednesday, including at Tampa Bay Downs race track. We have been crushing our horse picks for several months now (up 180.25 units dating back to Aug. 5). Let’s maintain the momentum!
Here are four runners whom we expected to have a leg up on the rest of the competition. It’s time to dive in and discuss these potentially profitable plays.
2:55 pm Tampa Bay Downs (Race 6) – The Critical Way 3/5
Race 6 at Tampa Bay is a $29,000 Allowance Optional Claiming contest over five furlongs on the turf and The Critical Way will take all the beating here. Jose Delgado’s gelding is two from two at this course, one of which was a Listed victory in the Turf Dash Stakes back in February and he remains in great from as his last two starts have resulted in convincing victories in a Black Type event and a Grade 3 which is by far the best form on offer here so he should win.
3:25 pm Tampa Bay Downs (Race 7) – Say Moi 7/2
William Mott’s Say Moi did very well in the circumstances to win an Allowance at Delaware Park last time out and I fancy her chances to back that up with another victory in this $28,000 Allowance Optional Claimer at Tampa Bay, Race 7. She stumbled out of the gates and had to come very wide over six furlongs to win that day whilst giving the impression she could be about to hit a rich vein of form so she is best kept on side over a seven furlong trip which will be fine.
3:55 pm Tampa Bay Downs (Race 8) – That Quality 3/1
The penultimate race at Tampa Bay is a $16,600 Claimer over a mile on the turf surface and it’s the horse in stall six That Quality who returned off a six month lay off to win in this grade on his latest start and can back that up with another win. That really was an impressive win as he made all to score by half a length which was quite something considering the amount of time he’d been off the track so with some improvement expected I like his chances in this race.
4:25 pm Tampa Bay Downs (Race 9) – Thrown For A Loupe 4/1
A competitive $16,600 Claimer is the ninth and final race at Tampa Bay and it should pay to side with Thrown For A Loupe who has plenty of experience at this track and can make use of the rail draw in stall one. This gelding has been kept busy this year and has put in some good performances in Allowance and Claiming races so if his jockey Pablo Morales can get a good spot in behind the leaders from the outset then I can see him running them down in deep stretch.
