4:12 pm Keeneland (Race 7) – Socially Selective 1/1 (2-star play)
Race 7 at Keeneland features 7 promising 3-year-old fillies who go to post for a 6-furlong Allowance contest on the dirt and they all have to go some to beat William Mott’s filly, Socially Selective. This daughter of Speightster was an ultra impressive winner on debut at Saratoga last August before finishing a good second in a stakes race at Oaklawn Park in her first start this season. There should be much more to come from her.
4:44 pm Keeneland (Race 8) – Rising Empire 6/1 (1-star play)
The $350,000 Grade 2 Elkhorn Stakes has been won by some lovely types since its inception in 1986 and last year’s winner Channel Maker returns to try and go back-to-back. But I like the chances of Florent Geroux’s mount, Rising Empire. His form figures of 212 in 2023 have all been in competitive races with his latest second in a Grade 2 at Fair Grounds reading well coming into this, so it will be disappointing should he not put up a bold showing.
5:16 pm Keeneland (Race 9) – Rattle N Roll 3/1 (2-star play)
Kenneth McPeek’s Rattle N Roll is a Grade 1 winner at Keeneland and comes into the Grade 3 Ben Ali Stakes with a great chance. There’s no doubt Skippylongstocking will take some beating here, but Rattle N Roll has some very good stakes race form in the book and will come on a good amount from a fourth-place effort at Fair Grounds last time when he was staying on nicely over a trip just shy of this mile and three-sixteenths.
5:48 pm Keeneland (Race 10) – Nobals 8/1 (1-star play)
The finale at Keeneland is a hugely competitive allowance over an extended 5 furlongs on the turf, in which a case can be made for many in this field — but none more so than Nobals, who has been impressing in recent workouts and will strip fitter from a second-place finish in this grade last month. Larry Rivelli’s gelding is a multiple stakes race winner who recorded a career-best speed figure last time out so he has every chance of hitting the board at a nice price.
