Horse Racing picks for Keeneland race track on Friday, April 8: My Prankster is no joke

Horse Racing on dirt at Santa Anita

There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Friday, including at Keeneland race track. Dating back to August 5 we are up 308.05 units with our race selections to our recommended stakes. Since March 2 we are up 76.1 units. Let’s keep it rolling!

Here are 4 runners we expect to perform well today. It’s time to dive in and discuss these potentially profitable plays.

4:12 pm Keeneland (Race 7) – My Prankster 9/5

Todd Pletcher looks to have some solid chances at Keeneland on Friday and his My Prankster can win the $400,000 Lafayette Stakes which is the first of three stakes races on the card. This is a competitive seven furlong event on the dirt but this colt showed battling qualities to win a Grade 3 at Gulfstream Park in February and there could be much more to come from him.

4:44 pm Keeneland (Race 8) – Grand Sonata 5/2

A select field of six are set to line up in the $400,000 Grade 3 Transylvania Stakes over a mile and a sixteenth on the turf and there’s some very nice colts in this with preference for Grand Sonata who won his Maiden here last October. He has since won two stakes races at Gulfstream Park which includes a neck victory in the Grade 3 Kitten’s Joy and if he should take some beating if Tyler Gaffalione can get into a prominent position from the stalls.

5:16 pm Keeneland (Race 9) – Nest 2/1

The $600,000 Grade 1 Central Bank Ashland Stakes has been won by some lovely fillies over the years including Take Charge Lady in 2002 and more recently Monomoy Girl in 2018 and this year it could be the turn of Todd Pletcher’s Nest who is three from four lifetime. Pletcher won this last year with Malathaat and, after winning a Grade 2 at Aqueduct in December, this filly returned to destroy a stakes field at Tampa Bay by six widening lengths and if she turns up in the same mood then she can win this.

5:48 pm Keeneland (Race 10) – Bay Storm 3/1

Race 10 at Keeneland is a hotly contested $120,000 Allowance for the female division over an extended five furlongs on the turf and this is an open race with preference for the filly in stall nine, Bay Storm, who is unexposed and could still be improving. Luis Saez’s mount is coming into this off a six month break but as a three-year-old she was very good, especially when taking apart a good field in a Listed contest at Belmont Park and she is certainly one to keep a close eye on in her four-year-old year.
