3:05 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 6) – Starship Nana 12/1
Race 6 at Gulfstream Park is a $54,000 Allowance Optional Claiming contest over seven furlongs on the dirt and Starship Nana can go well here. This four-year-old filly easily won a Maiden Claimer on debut over course and distance last February before finishing seventh in an Allowance a couple of weeks later. The general feeling is that she is better than that so connections gave her plenty of time off to grow into herself and she returned last month to finish fifth in this grade and she should improve a good amount from that effort and put up a bold bid here.
3:37 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Lookinlikeaqueen 9/2
Lookinlikeaqueen did very well to beat Gulfstream Park course specialist Yolanda’s Pride on her latest run here and she can take that good form into this $34,000 Starter Allowance event, Race 7 at Gulfstream Park. This daughter of Lookin At Lucky is a bit of a course specialist herself having won no less than six races at this track and has more than enough ability to win this so she should go well from a nice draw in stall three.
4:11 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Lucci 5/2
The penultimate race at Gulfstream Park is a $61,000 Allowance Optional Claiming event over five furlongs on the turf and Wesley Ward’s Lucci should win this one. She was a cosy three length winner of a Maiden Special Weight on debut at Belmont Park last May before contesting the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot and ran brilliantly to finish fifth, beaten just a length behind the classy Perfect Power. She has been off the track since then but if Wesley Ward has her close to race fitness she should win.
4:42 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Always A Party 4/1
A field of nine are set to go to post for the ninth and final race at Gulfstream Park which is a five furlong $43,000 Maiden Optional Claimer and I like Todd Pletcher’s Always A Party in this. She went off a hot favourite when finishing fifth in a Maiden Special Weight at Monmouth Park last July but she is the type to make into a nice three-year-old and can win this off a six month layoff.
