There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Thursday, including at Belmont Park and Aqueduct race tracks. Here are 4 runners whom we expected to have a leg up on the rest of the competition. We have been crushing our horse picks for several months now (up 179.95 units dating back to Aug. 5), and we plan on maintaining the momentum.
Let’s dive in discuss these potentially profitable plays.
2:23 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 5) – Cyberviking 5/2
A shrewd $12,000 purchase, he made the best possible start to his career by winning over track and distance last month. Despite showing plenty of inexperience, he drew clear readily in the stretch on his left lead. There should be plenty of improvement to come from Jorge Delgado’s colt as he now comes up against winners on his second career start. A wide draw isn’t ideal, but he has plenty of potential and the booking of Paco Lopez catches the eye.
3:23 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Muted 1/1
Thomas Proctor’s juvenile made a winning debut over track and distance in September before a narrow defeat on allowance debut back at Gulfstream last time. That was disappointing, given her skinny odds, but she was only narrowly denied and the fact the front two pulled clear bodes well in terms of form. She’s kept in the same grade and it’s still very early days for her, so another big effort has to be expected.
2:44 pm Aqueduct (Race 6) – Gun Boat 9/2
A son of War Front, Claude McGaughey’s filly was well fancied on debut at Saratoga in August. She was far too keen that day, weakening late on over the mile and a sixteenth distance. It was still a promising effort, however, and she built on it when caught late over the same distance at Belmont last time. She now cuts back significantly in trip, but she has plenty of early speed and is drawn perfectly in stall one to utilize that. If she turns in front, she’ll be very tough to overhaul.
3:44 pm Aqueduct (Race 8) – St. Joe Louis 7/2
Costing a huge $687,383 as a yearling, this son of Kingman graduated at the second attempt with victory at Belmont in May. He’s subsequently been pitched into Saratoga allowance races, latterly missing out by a neck in a $103,000 event. That continued a trend of steady improvement from Chad Brown’s gelding and he’s ideally drawn in post one for a stalking trip. He’s totally unexposed and should have plenty more to offer–especially at this level.
