1:20 pm ET Thistledown (Race 2) – Serendipitous 9/5 (2-star play)
The 4-year-old has been performing at a higher level in recent times, including when a 9.25-length 5th in a $16,000 claiming contest over 6.5 furlongs at Belterra Park in June.
The pick has won at a higher level than he tackles today, including when taking a $10,000 claimer at Mahoning Valley in April and Timothy E Hamm’s gelding looks capable of recording his 4th career success having missed an intended engagement at Belterra Park on July 29.
1:50 pm ET Thistledown (Race 3) – Feeling Easy 8/5 (2-star play)
The daughter of National Flag showed plenty of promise when delivering a 9-length 2nd having raced from off the pace early in a 5-furlong maiden special weight at this venue in her debut in June.
The 2-year-old raced closer to the pace when filling the same position in being beaten half a length over 5.5 furlongs at Thistledown subsequently and she looks up to going one better with Luis Rivera having won on half of his 4 starts at this meeting.
3:20 pm ET Thistledown (Race 6) – Kid Russell 8/5 (2-star play)
The Lorenzo Juarez-trained gelding has shown good form in 2023, including when finishing runner-up in 4 of his last 5 starts. The most recent of those saw the 6-year-old suffer a 5.75-length defeat over 5.5 furlongs in an allowance contest at this track on July 27.
The step up to 6 furlongs is no issue as he has performed well over further in the past and the gelding, who usually races close to or on the speed, can register a 5th career win.
